On All-American, finished year one 9-4 with a bowl win over WKU. Year two has been weird. Blown out by Charlotte, beat NCSU at home, beat Toledo at home in OT.

Passing is super difficult for me in this game. I have to run RPO 90% of the time to get the ball moving. I haven't gone a game without throwing at least one pick, many games have had 2 or more.

Recruiting I tried to be somewhat realistic. Targeted mainly 2-stars with a couple of 3-stars. Most interest was from 1 and 2 stars. In year two, I have 15 3-stars with App as their top-3 choice at the start of the season. The game definitely assists in future success with recruiting.
If you spend all your coaching credits on recruiting, it becomes easy to get 4-5 star recruits after 2-3 seasons. I play on varsity difficulty, I think. Whatever the basic, not-easy mode is. It seems like the game almost makes you lose one game a year. I lost to Charlotte after beating ECU and NC State by 21 or more points. Somehow Charlotte becomes an offensive juggernaut in 3 years, and my 84 grade defense couldn't do anything about it. lol
Are you guys simulating all your games? I have gone undefeated. Charlotte is not a powerhouse on mine but Louisiana, JMU, Memphis, Boise State, Ohio, Toledo, UTSA, Tulane, Rice, Miami Ohio, and FAU have popped up the most among G5 schools ranked. One trick to help you build up stadium ranking is to schedule ranked teams for OOC at home. Beating ranked teams at home helps your program tradition, it is easier to do because you are at home, and your home stadium ranking will move into the top 25 toughest to play.
I sim defense but play offense. That's mainly for time purposes, as I don't have 4 hour blocks to play like I used to 15 years ago. I play 8 minute quarters with 20 second clock runoff. Between that and recruiting one week can take me nearly an hour to get through.
Have you thought about making defense a priority in recruiting a little more then to ensure that you have enough talent to hold up since you sim the defense? Recruiting does take a good bit of time if you really do it right.

To be honest, I'm thinking about scrapping my current dynasty and starting over because I had no idea what I was doing in the start and I really misused my recruiting points are on and never really recovered so I am thinking about doing that. But I'm still not interested in going after a bunch of four and five star players in the first year because that's just not realistic although I may try and go for a couple more three stars the first time around.

You won't get 4 and 5 star players your first year at App so focus on the ones who have interest in you for sure but I am more talking about later on down the line.

One good way to help you with recruiting points that is a cheat would be to pick 35 players to scout and then save. Once you save, scout them and take note of those who are a bust and those who don't have you in the top 5-8. Go back in and load the saved version and remove those bad ones and keep doing it. Make sure the players have speed because if you are playing as them you just need them to be fast. Narrow it down to about 20-22 players that you really want at positions of need and then use max points on them. If you just get 15 or so who pan out in a class you are in great shape.

Another cheat is to go pick highest rated players that have you #1 and save them to that group. Once you have players scouted and that group of guys who have you first then save that on top of the auto save copy. Offer those players who have you number 1 and if the first one does not commit then exit and upload it again. I got 12 players to commit to me doing that. I had to pick time during the weekend to do it but it works. Wish I had time like I use to do that like I did on the old versions. lol

I play 3 min quarters, and sim nothing at this point.

I did start over, and did more or less what you said. I started off with searching for 2-stars or better that had me in the top 3. Found a good set of kids to start with. Also since I now have something of an idea what I am doing on game play, I'm 3-1 in my new year one. I have a mini-scheme of 5 plays that I work with all game (RPO, 2 options, 2 passes) but I am also toying with the Wake walking RPO in the practice dome because its fun to use but given the games proclivity for over-calling illegal man downfield, not sure I will use it because the idea behind that scheme is to let plays develop longer and I think that will basically guarantee those penalties all the time.

After you win you should have 4 and 3 star guys who have App #1. I got 15 players with a 90 or above rating and 45 with a 80 or above doing what I said. You can get five star players at App after winning big.

The speed option tends to work a lot. Also there are vidoes on YouTube of people showing many types of plays that work a lot. The Jet Touch Pass also works a lot. Inside Cross and plays like it work a lot too. If you have elite outside speed there are deep routes that work a ton as well.

I read that part of the patch today addresses the lineman and RPOs. Which would be lovely for me.
