Then you should address our conference who voted for the measure ---

that rant was very Saban like.

Anyway. I'm surprised the SBC voted for it as discussed on the SBC board yesterday. I know App, GA St, ULM, and Ark St. enjoyed the use of them. I know Texas St., USA, and probably GS were for the ban.

But put aside your allegiance to any school and think about the student athlete, if you do that these camps are a positive for them. That's been my point the whole time.

I heard Hugh Freese on radio this morning - he was defending the ruling while Golic was against it - much was discussed but the point I am writing this post about is that Freese said he had always welcomed G5 and FCS coaches to his camp and he feels the NCAA went too far in cutting them out - He said he spoken with other SEC coaches (certainly Saban would have been the most important) and with Urban Meyer and the consensus was the rule needed to be adjusted to allow the G5 and FCS coaches to still attend - I would imagine (eventually) the NCAA will look at revising this ruling ---

It's not yet been adopted, so it may get revised before it's implemented.

I also have seen that schools can pay to bring recruits and their parents/legal guardians round trip now.

He got to a super bowl, what'd Saban do at the highest level of his profession? He blew it. Harbaughs just as good of a coach as Saban and this rule was only even brought into question because they're all scared to death of harbaugh...as they should be. Like I already said regarding his "scam" idk how something can be a scam when there is literally nothing on the books banning it in any form. Savvy move. Also, when Harbaughs 64 years old I'll be interested to see the championship comparison between the two.

These rules will affect App in a pretty big way, at the least they should allow coaches to coach at other schools camps like we did with Valdosta st last year. Yet another idiotic move by the NCAA to help everyone but the kids as usual.

I'm sure the P5's can afford to do that but it would be difficult and very pricey for someone like App, who recruits a lot of areas where more would need to fly than drive but even if they did drive many would be coming from more than 6 hours away and that would mean no fewer than 2 nights of motel rooms in addition to travel costs.

Honestly I'm going to wait to see what the final wording of the ruling is come the 28th. At that time we'll know what we really can and can't do.

This is actually bigger than the ban of camps and creates further separation from haves and have-nots. Selling a recruits on your school is one thing, selling momma seals the deal.

Listen....all that has to be done is for Nike or UA to host a camp and invite kids and coaches...ther are ways to work around this.

That already happens but they're invite only camps for the high 3, 4 and 5 star guys that are going P5. IMO Nike/UA aren't going to just throw camps all across the country so the Apps of the college football world can go identify a few diamonds in the rough. NCAA screwed up royally as always.

Just realized the rule only applies to FBS, FCS schools can still do off site camps! And participate at G5 and P5 camps to get some who fall thru the cracks.

The Sun Belt rep might not have made a difference, but the Sun Belt AND Pac-12 vote would have. Scott is the Pac-12 commish.

Those two would have made it 8-7 in favor of satellite camps if they voted how their conference wanted them to.

Anyone expecting the satellite camp debate to die out soon was sorely mistaken. The United States Department of Justice has opened "an informal inquiry" into the NCAA's ban on satellite camps, according to USA Today.

The NCAA's Division I Council voted to ban satellite camps on April 8 and the NCAA Board of Directors is expected to discuss ratification of that ban on Thursday. However, according to USA Today, the DOJ wants to determine if the ban "could jeopardize or lessen opportunities for youth players to be seen or have access to college football coaches."

One of the key points of dissension around the decision to ban satellite camps was the concern that it would hurt the chances of recruits to be seen by a larger number of coaches. Many coaches from smaller schools -- in FBS and lower levels -- attended large camps hosted by big schools.
