The program is sound and they are doing the right thing, I say let the process judge him. In the end the truth will be told. I hope that he learns and grows from this and understands the value of being in a team.

Re: Edge-Campbell Suspended
So what are we thinking as far as starters at this point?:
LT Nunn
LG Malone/Greer?
C Collins
RG Collmar
RT Gossett
Or move Gossett inside for:
LT Nunn
LG Gossett or Collmar
C Collins
RG Gossett or Collmar
RT Vic Johnson
Thoughts?

Re: Edge-Campbell Suspended
Satterfield to date has handled these types of situations. Hate it for guys like Collins and Tyson that have to play out of position (a position they may be able to play on Sundays, especially Tyson) as well as the other 100+ players that have lofty goals for this season. The center position to me was the biggest question mark this team had for 2016.
I'm sure the message the staff is giving them is guys don't even put yourselves in a situation where you can be accused of these types of things.

If Gossett stays outside, sounds like Fernandez is more likely than Malone or Greer. Not sure whether that's most likely or Johnson starting at tackle. Probably TBD in practice.asucrutch23 wrote:So what are we thinking as far as starters at this point?:

According to this Alex Gray should not be on the team. But no one really talks about that anymore...NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote:Charged, not convicted. Arrested and charged only means a person has been accused of violating a law. Proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is quite another thing. And as Gonzo posted, the wheels of justice turn slowly. September 7, plus two or three continuances, plus perhaps some sort of counseling and community service for a first offender...it can easily drag out to March '17 or beyond.
Or the DA could dismiss it this afternoon.
It's out of the university's domain! So, everyone just has to move on as if TEC is out for the season. If that changes, he'll have to work his way up the ladder again.

If he isnt flat out innocent he's probably done for the season. Typically lawyers get these cases continued (as mentioned above) and his would figure to get pushed past December. Probably his only shot is for immediate dismissal

Re: Edge-Campbell Suspended
Maybe I look at this as a half glass full opportunity for Tyson and the next level. If he is able to have noticeable success on both sides of the ball (especially against UT and Miami) than I think that boosts his draft stock in that he has versatility to play multiple positions (sides) if needed at the next level. With the limited number of roster spots at the NFL level teams really do put a premium on those guys that demonstrate that versatility to plug in multiple positions throughout the season.Rekdiver wrote:Tyson has made light-year leaps in his strength and conditioning since he got here. I projected Tyson as being drafted by a 3-4 defense team. I hope this doesn't hurt those changes. I love this guys attitude!!!!

A 3-4 NT who can also play offense? Just go ahead and fit him for a Patriots jersey now.ASUGoose wrote:Maybe I look at this as a half glass full opportunity for Tyson and the next level. From the various published camp videos and interviews from coaches, it sounds like Nunn and Gossett are the clear Left and Right tackles respectively but both have ability to play guard as well. Collins now moves to Center with the TEC suspension in play now. It sounded like Collmar went down with an injury (not sure the severity) and that Coach Clark is very high on Vic Johnson getting a lot of reps with the 1's - likely at a guard position but has the athleticism to play tackle and both sides (left and right) of the Oline. Coach Clark also mentioned Chandler Greer as another option. The new question mark is Tyson, likely slotted at the guard position.

Obviously none of us know all the facts to the case (besides Moose probably), but regardless of if he's convicted, proven innocent or the case is continued out past the season, I would hope he wouldn't be suspended for an entire season for what seems to be a case of petty theft. A couple games, sure.

Just a point of clarification. What he is charged with is a felony in North Carolina. This is not a petty theft charge.Yosef10 wrote:bigdaddyg wrote:If he isnt flat out innocent he's probably done for the season. I'm told by my friends in law enforcement that a bond of $2,500 indicates a very minor charge. A felony, yes. But nowhere close to being a major one.appst89 wrote:Just a point of clarification. Re: Edge-Campbell Suspended
There is a reason I put the bond in the post. The problem with the statute that he is charged with (GS 14-74) is that, while it's a felony, the line between a Class C felony and a Class H felony is $100,000. Over it's Class C, under it's Class H. Meaning that someone that steals something worth $30.00 and someone stealing an item worth $30,000 is charged with the same class. Of course the amounts make a difference when bond is issued and will/would be taken into account by the DA and court during the adjudication of the case. That's why I put it in the post. It's one of the lowest secured amounts I've seen in many years for a felony charge. There isn't a misdemeanor statute for larceny by an employee who takes the item(s) during employment. In standard larceny the line between misdemeanor and felony is $1,000. There are other instances where larceny can be one or the other but in this case it's always a felony, regardless of the amount.
I've seen this happen several times over the years and if the defendant has no prior history and the amount taken is low then they will usually plead down to probation and community service. I think it's best if we just let the case proceed through the system and then we'll see what happens. I truly hope he learns from this, serves his punishment, and is able to return to the team or at least complete school and get his degree. I've only heard good things about him since he arrived here and I pray that he is able to move forward with his life in a good way.

Unless they fast track it since he is an athlete. If he has no record, they will give him a deferred prosecution (50hrs of community service or so and a little fine), then it's off his record.Gonzo wrote:Just knowing the nature of district court and misdemeanor strategy, it will likely be well into the season or after before he sees his case resolved, even if it's dismissed.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote:Charged, not convicted. I was going to mention deferred prosecution if he didn't have a record that day but honestly I was too tired to go into it when I put that last post up. Glad you did because I forgot to go back and mention that it was a possibility.AppState89 wrote:Unless they fast track it since he is an athlete. Re: Edge-Campbell Suspended
How is a DUI just part of growing up? People get killed by drunk drivers. One of my friends from high school survived a tour of combat duty in Viet Nam. A week after coming home from Viet Nam, he gets hit head on by a drunk driver and dies on the scene.AppinVA wrote:Ugh. Get a DUI? it's a part of growing up. Sorry. That's strike one, two and three.
I just hope you were being facetious.
