APP STATE / TENNESSEE WEATHER TREND

Unread post by WXAPP » Sun Aug 28, 2016 10:55 am

Football season is finally here! Can't wait to see how our Mountaineers fair this year! Should be a doozy of a ride! With luck, not so many rain games this year as last!

For those heading over the mountain to Knoxville, the weather looks dry for the game. Upper 80s that afternoon with a slight chance for a stray storm through 7 PM 'ish. After that, trends allow for perfect football weather!

3 PM - Partly sunny. Slight chance for a pop up storm. 89

6 PM - Partly cloudy. Diminishing chance for pop up storm. Upper 80s

KICKOFF - Partly cloudy, Mid 80s

HALFTIME - Partly cloudy, Low 80S / Upper 70S.

END OF GAME/b] - Mostly clear, Mid 70s.

Travel safe! I'll update during the week.

GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Great, I am pleased that we have our own Yosef Mountaineer in charge of the weather forecasts. Make sure that we the sun in our face and the wind at our backs, to guide us through the season.

**MONDAY UPDATE*** No major changes to the forecast thinking. If anything, given the timing of the passing cold front, temps may run 2-5 degrees cooler.

GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Hi WXAPP,
Just checked the AccuWeather report for Knoxville for Thurday and it says that it will be around 79 degrees at kick and around 74 degrees or so at game end with only about 15-20 percent chance of rain. Does that jive with your thoughts ? Looks good, regardless. Go App !

Well for their model grab of the moment, that seems pretty in line with my thoughts. Afternoon storm chance should be gone by the start of the game. With cold front dropping through, afternoon shower /storm chance a bit higher than 20%. So, early tailgaters may have a passing shower or storm to contend with. Overall, things appear on track.
