Considering all the crap they've been talking I thought they would have a little thicker skin. Richt will probably clean the program up, but they can't deny their past.

Yeah, I almost felt bad about that post until I visited their board. Redneck this. Hillbilly that. And the one guy who wants us to visit the Blue Lot so he can show us how he's about that "body bag lyfe." I'll pass, thanks.

Stereotyping goes both ways. I'm seeing alot of stereotyping of Miami fans.

Waah. Personally, I thought the prisoner look-a-like was a perfect rebuttal to all the trash talking & name calling from your end. In a more high-brow way. Sort of like a good wine. With aroma & scent of oak paddles.

In fact, IMO that prisoner look-a-like may have been the best post I have ever seen on any message board. Ever. Like in the history of the world and Canada. Ever.

And, the Eye in the Sky MMB seemed to confirm it hit a nerve.

Man, I can't wait for some football. Let's settle this kerfuffle on the field. Tell your guys to bring their best stuff. You'll get our best.

When was I trash talking? You said trash talking on my end? I don't remember doing that.

No, you are correct. I did not mean to imply that you were trash talking. Sorry I was not more clear.

What I meant was that the trash talking was occurring on the Miami message board as to the App State game. Perhaps Hurricanes fans are used to that. Fine. Personally, I prefer posts from fans who are knowledgeable about the game. Most of the trash talkers don't know what they're talking about. If Miami thinks they are going to come up to Boone & blow out a bad football team, they're gonna be surprised. Let the excuses begin.

Most all posters on Miami's message boards think the score will be (or should be) about 60 - 2 in favor of Miami. And, then, if the score is closer, then Miami's fans' obvious conclusion is that something was wrong with their team ... coach ... players ... waterboy ... the weather ... the elevation. The first few posters who tried to say App can play this game were criticized as being ignorant. After someone pointed out the Vegas odds were saying Miami was a 3 pt. favorite, and after Coach Richt said App was a good football team, then some Miami fans started paying closer attention to App's team on the field. That was a good start.

Here's what I see. App runs a triple option that is different from most all others. Our OL is pretty darn good and runs a zone blocking scheme that sets up our misdirection plays. App's goal (I think) will be to run the ball & control the clock; 4 yds a play is all we need. We can pass, but we'd prefer to run. Miami's D might make adjustments by the 2nd half to address what it sees on the field. But, so will App. Miami will NOT shut down App's running game, despite Miami posters contentions to the contrary.

Our freshman kicker had a bad game at Tennessee, true enough. He worked out the kinks by the ODU game. He'll be fine.

App's D is better than Miami posters think it is. Miami will be surprised at how stout our D is. Our freshman DB Duck is short, but fast, quick, and already impressive in just two games. You'll see. Our front 7 are experienced and good at what they do. Best name for LB in all of football, John Law, is pretty darn good. Go ahead and keep telling yourself that none of App's players would have made Miami's team. Fine. Just keep an eye on the scoreboard as you do that.

Oh, and BTW, I hope you have a blast on Saturday! And, personally, I hope it snows.

Where? We do a Look-a-Like thread for every game. The one for ODU was particularly awesome. Those are some cartoonish dudes.

And seriously, go read the Miami message boards and then try to show me one post on here that compares to that nonsense. Most of them aren't even funny. They're the same tired old cliches about mountain folk. (Ignoring the fact that most of our students are from Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, etc., and most of our players are about as far from hillbillies as you can get.)

So don't go getting all butthurt on us now.

(Edit: I posted this before I saw AppAlum1's post right above mine. His post says some of what mine says, but better.)

I too have spent some time perusing the "Caines Insight' message board and the culture over there is completely ridiculous. I understand the culture of "The U" and what it's meant in the past, but it's completely out of hand on that message board. Admins need to get ahold of it.

As mentioned before, no one over there is interested in a logical discussion and if they are they get berated as bad if not worse than App fans who venture over. I have a perfectly thick skin...idiots jabbering does not bother me in the least. It only serves to make those individual posters look bad and make a fine institution look worse by extension. Clearly they don't care what I or anyone else thinks of them and that's fine too.

.. but not all of us U fans are like that. I think it will be a close game and if Miami isn't ready to play Appalachian State will eat our lunch. All of the pundits are hoping we lose. Most CFB fans hate Miami. We're the bad guy always, no matter what. We don't get a fair shake in officiating, even from our own refs. So even if they are ACC refs, it doesn't matter, because any Miami big play they review it. We get flagged for unsportmanlike conduct and other teams do the same thing and nothing happens.

I'm actually in my last semester of an Appalachian Studies certificate. I'm doing it out of sheer interest and I'd rather live there than a big city any day of the week.
