Funny I heard Satt on the David Glenn show and he commented that he would either "like to see" or would "expect that" the goalposts would come down. Take it for what it's worth

It's called contingency planning.AppGrad78 wrote:But sitting around on Tuesday wondering what we "might" do just seems like putting the cart before the horse.

Once the prediction thread comes out my hope is that nobody picks us to lose. We need as much mojo as possible. Go with your hearts this week!!

If we win, it will change this program dramatically forever and be remembered as second only to the Michigan win. We all know this team is capable of doing it, and if they do, the town will go nuts! Dreaming of a win and speculating on the fate of goal posts is way premature, imo. It's hard not to let the mind wonder about these things though! Just prepare to get loud and pack the rock! Even if you don't have tickets, you should go. Try to pick one up from scalpers. They're always a few. GO APP!

Re: Biggest Home game in App History
I have heard Satt on a few radio interviews (particularly with DG out of Raleigh). Last week he said the right things as far as not looking past ODU. He seems to have a nice grasp on the situation but at the same time you can tell he is excited- just like the halftime bit at the UT game. I believe he views the game as huge and genuinely wants the boys to have fun, lay it all out and just win it. He made reference to taking down the goalposts. Those of us on here with a grasp of the game fully understand the level of the opponent and any speculation is just that. All the talk we do has zero outcome on the game. It's just supposed to be fun. At least it is for me.

Re: Biggest Home game in App History
I know our performance at UT got Miami's attention (according to some people we don't have a chance because they won't overlook us which is the only reason we can play with a P5), but I think it will help keep our guys from losing focus since they know they can play on that level. By losing focus I mean getting caught up in the hoopla over the game instead of focusing on doing their job and just playing. Adrenaline will definitely be pumping, but hopefully the team won't look at them any differently than UT or anyone else. The history that comes with the U on the helmet creates a lot of excitement, but when the ball is kicked the current players are all that matters.

That's assuming Appalachian State makes the return trip in 2021. They could change their minds between now and then.

I know the boys in black and gold will be ready. My call is for App Nation to be READY! App State battle flags flying from east to west, from north to south. Standing room only, I mean standing the WHOLE game (I'm 68)! The 12th man must set the tone for the whole game. That means that there is no place for Miami to escape the noise that ROCKS the very mountains around KBS. I want to see the 12th man exhausted, drenched from the effort of being in the trenches of the game. This is about letting loose, having the best time of your life! Go App!!!

Exactly! If I'm not exhausted at the end of the game with my voice lost, I failed as a fan. GET LOUD for App!!!appgrunt71 wrote:I know the boys in black and gold will be ready. Change our mind? We don't have the money to buy out the game and you're kidding yourself if you think our program is scared to come to South Florida. Anyone! Anytime! Anywhere!LizardCane wrote:That's assuming Appalachian State makes the return trip in 2021. They could change their minds between now and then.AppDawg wrote:Zero. With that said, Richt will have the Canes' program back on an elite level by 2021.

I didnt' mean scared. I meant that Appalachian State might think Miami is not worthy enough to play them and change their mind and cancel out of our owed game.

LOL, trust me we will be there. We aren't worthy of knocking any P5 teams off of our schedule. We just want to earn enough respect to play more teams like Miami.LizardCane wrote:moonshine wrote:Change our mind? Re: Biggest Home game in App History
We can't afford to change our mind!
There are very few FBS programs our fan base would deem not worthy and the U doesn't come anywhere close to that list. One of the main reasons many of our fans wanted to make the jump was to get good programs coming to the high country. I don't think any of our fans ever dreamed of having a 5 time national champion playing at Kidd Brewer, especially in the first couple of years of FBS. Many of our fans wanted to rekindle games with the likes of Wake, Marshall and ECU. So far we've gotten Wake and Marshall and rumor has it, there's a series with ECU in the works. Those are the programs we see as peers even if they don't acknowledge as much. Hosting Miami is a coupdetat in regards to our jump to FBS!

we haven't been good for a while now, yet alone elite. I mean we're ranked, but that's by default since teams above us lost. we haven't done anything rank worthy so far this season. I think playing at Tennessee would be a bigger game than hosting us

Please tell me you're not saying you don't want to be ranked until we prove we can stay rankedLizardCane wrote:we haven't been good for a while now, yet alone elite. Re: Biggest Home game in App History
No sir! We've played big time programs at their house. We've never got to host a big time program. NC is a basketball state (see Tobacco Rd) with ECU and App being the only programs in the state with a football first mentality. While the U hasn't been "elite" as of late, we are well aware of your storied history.
I'd say many in our fan base have nothing but respect for Richt and we know UGA was dumb to let go of a guy who consistently won 9-10 games a year in the SEC. UM got a coach who can lead you back to the elite status your fan base is clamoring for but you all will need to be somewhat patient until Mark gets his guys into that program. Our fans also have a deep admiration for your OL Coach and his time up here on the mountain. Stacy Searels is a hero around these parts!

Re: Biggest Home game in App History
No way we would back out. App State doesn't operate that way. Plus we know that if we want to get more P5 schools to come to Boone we can't do anything shady like that. Lastly Miami is prime recruiting territory and we will enjoy being able to tell recruits we're coming down their in a few years.

Except we did have to back out (forgot who, WSSU?) after this week's game was scheduled.JTApps1 wrote:No way we would back out. App State doesn't operate that way.
