I'd gladly trade a Citadel loss at home for an NC State loss at home.vegattk wrote: Put two and two together....
FBS losses = less momentum = less App fans = less butts in the seats.
So, if we play NC State at home we'll be able to pay for the costs of sending our teams to Timbuktu by selling tickets to folks in red clothing...

Why? You just saw ASU play football? Isn't that enough?GlassOnion wrote:I'd gladly trade a Citadel loss at home for an NC State loss at home.vegattk wrote: Put two and two together....

One game does not a postseason make.
More App Games > Less App Games
More App Games > Less App Games
Re: turmoil
I do not know who to quote but I can say this....and i am sure some guy with a business model will certainly espouse to know way more than I...(That is actually a pretty good possibility for anyone on the board.....but....
I's say if you are looking for a return on investment you have to look further than APPsolute athletic revenue. I have two sons at ASU right now. by the time they started to apply the number of APPlications had tripled from the early 2000's....with that came a different kind of student with different academic status'. Reason....1 freaking win!...and three National Championships. It put ASU on the map.
The long term "Return on investment" in the school might not be seen for a few years but the brighter grads ought to translate into higher paying positions, better business folk, etc. We have added a few professional programs in the past couple of years and are looking to add more.
So when i look at things I have to take notice not just at the ROI of the athletic department but of the whole University. My guys had to compete against a completely different kind of APPlicant than a few short years before!
Let's don't be too short sighted!
Go APPS...

I'll take up that bet. If we play NC State in KBS, there will be 5,000 pack fans there, max, with 35,000 folks wearing black and gold. One reason, is that their fans won't be too thrilled to be playing in Boone, but our fans will be tickled to death to have them here.bcoach wrote:NC STATE at home?vegattk wrote:Put two and two together....appgrad wrote:Considering we fill our stadium with little help from any of our coherence opponents, I don't see how that's remotely a possibility.vegattk wrote:Hey, at least Kidd Brewer will be full of Non-App fans once we start getting "better" FBS teams to play us at home!

APPinVA is right on the money plus the first huge hurdle to get over is to get State to play us in Boone. Don't hold your breath. We don't have anywhere near the pull in the legislature that ECU has.AppinVA wrote:I'll take up that bet. A consultant will tell you whatever you want hear.bcoach wrote:WOW. Thanks for the help but I hope that is not what they used to make a decision, and I would say the same if they decided to go the other way. I did see this a while back and thought it was just a PR brochure. I really hope there was a real report with lot more information than this and if not, I hope they didn't pay more than about $1000-$1500 dollars for it. As it is our money I think we are owed a lot more than this. We have a business school. Have we used them? I read a paper done by a student in the Sports Mgt program a few years back that was MUCH better than this. Don't mean to be a "smart guy" but I am very disappointed in this. As I have read that the vast majority of schools don't break even we need to be serious about this.

Product of the terrible twos and a pregnant wife... I'm all-around punchy, tired, and very much the troll lately!

Oh come on Saint., you know we could NEVER get an ACC team to come to Boone. That's just pie in the sky wishful thinking.Saint3333 wrote:ODU just signed a 2 for 1 deal with VT, that doesn't sound too bad.
Re: turmoil
We could - just not one from the state of North Carolina. Someone like Georgia Tech or Louisville (still weird calling them an ACC school) - I'm pretty both have gone to at least one SunBelt school recently.JTApps1 wrote:Oh come on Saint., you know we could NEVER get an ACC team to come to Boone. Why do you say that? UNC won't come here, but Wake will. NC State will if we play our cards right in the future.JTApps1 wrote:Oh come on Saint., you know we could NEVER get an ACC team to come to Boone. ECU isn't in the ACC, but they would certainly sign a home and home as well.

I was being sarcastic guys. I've been saying we could get teams like that to come to Boone for years. Many of the anti-FBS guys said we never would.

Re: turmoil
Why would we want to play Wake? They only have 4 or 5 thousand students and are a private school!
At least, that's what I keep hearing - no privates and no one smaller than us.

Likely beating a BCS school at home would be huge. Plus, the average American has heard of Wake Forrest.BUTCH1991 wrote:Why would we want to play Wake? They only have 4 or 5 thousand students and are a private school! At least, that's what I keep hearing - no privates and no one smaller than us.

Re: turmoil
Getting an in-state school would be a chore but it could happen eventually. ODU getting Virginia Tech on board less than a year after announcing a move up is certainly cause for optimism.
Look at some of the schools hosted by Sun Belt members over the past two seasons:
Mississippi State
Louisville
Baylor
Georgia Tech
Duke
Navy
Memphis
There have also been neutral field games with Kentucky and Arkansas. As an FBS program, it would not be unrealistic to get a game with Duke/UNC/NC State at BOA Stadium in Charlotte, which would also be a great experience.

Good list - I also know Kansas State, Missouri and Oklahoma State have all gone in the last 5 years.asumike83 wrote:Getting an in-state school would be a chore but it could happen eventually. I wouldn't read too much into ODU hosting VT, though...the reason for that, and one of the reasons ODU was appealing to CUSA, is the fact that the Tidewater area is fertile recruiting ground...especially for the 2 VA ACC schools.

If we ever reached a point where WE couldn't fill KBS for a game against NC State, the world as we know it would have ended. I think you are selling the black and gold faithful way too short.

Re: turmoil
Filling KBS for a game with State is not the problem capacity would be the problem. State and Carolina would have to give up a lot of seats to come to KBS. How do you work out the money deal to make it worth it to them?

You do a two for one.
