It would not end well for the FCSers if the two sides actually met in fisticuffs. Most of them are in the AARP.

I have had my AARP card for 13 years AND I AM AN FBSer. WE WERE AT THE TOP LEVEL WHEN I PLAYED AND ATTENDED APP. I WANT TO GO BACK TO OUR RIGHTFUL PLACE. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!!!!!!
Good on ya, buddy!

I've got a good 30+ years till I get my card....
You sure? Unless you are currently in your teens you will get an engraved invitation sooner than you think. They started hammering me this year when I turned 50.

I thought it was 60.......

I started getting AARP membership mailings when I was 48. I am 52 now and still haven't joined. Maybe I will once I hit 55. Now back on topic, if a SBC invite were extended to us, yes we would accept.

The Hatfields were in the right because they were West Virginians

Isn't that "they were West By God Virginians?'

This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Biggest Fear I have is that Charlie Cobb and Dr. Peacock still have their eyes fixed on CUSA and have only given luke warm answers to Karl Benson and the Sun Belt.
If the Sun Belt doesn't believe that we would accept an offer, then they will pass over us faster than
- Georgia Southern can lose in the FCS Semi-Finals

Yep...50 seems to be the magic age. I got my invitation from AARP about a week before my 50th birthday (a few weeks ago). Kind of like rubbing salt in the wound if you ask me.

If it were not for those fans in the AARP you wouldn't have any place to hold the fight.

I believe that almost all of the older App State fans want us to go FBS. Mainly because most of us older fans have never wanted us into FCS at all, ever. Still hard to believe we did that years ago.

I know a whole bunch of the over 55 who want to stay FCS but here is the deal. If a survey had been part of "THE STUDY" we would have the answer. Bottom line is that we are all guessing due to the crowd we hang with. We really have no idea what the percentage for or against really is. It really does not matter as the decision has been made but it would just be one less thing to argue about.

During the study they held meetings to discuss the pros and cons with a different support groups, students, faculty, alumni chapters, and Yosef Advisory Board members. Trust me not everyone in those groups were pro FBS, but when they learned more about the changing landscape of college athletics you could tell there was a shift in the questions and comments that supported a move under the right circumstance.
The shift in this board is very similar over the last 18-24 months. People that weren't pro FBS or were 50/50 have crossed over due to what they see happening. Is it 100%, of course not but their is a clear increase in our fanbase to support what our leaders have suggested, a move out of the SoCon and a move to the FBS.

I understand what you are saying but that is still only an opinion as a survey was never done. I was in a couple of those and attendance was very low in comparison to the fan base. I am not arguing FBS/FCS. As I said that is done. All I am saying is that we can only speculate how people feel as the vast majority were never asked. The people on this board are a very small fraction of the fan base also.

I attended a couple as well. 50+ were at both and it included alumni members and fans from multiple states, areas within those states, many different backgrounds and varying opinions on the subject. A survey of the broad base without the presentation I saw would accomplish nothing other than divide a fanbase. Many of our fans don't have a firm grip of reality of where App State is in the college athletic landscape, and that is on both sides of the spectrum, from "join the ACC" to " I like playing in D2".

OOPS sorry. I didn't realize that we had that many fans that just don't have a grip. I guess many of them just are not smart enough to make a decision. Thank god we have someone like you to make our decisions for us. Many thanks. We owe you our undying gratitude. Thank heaven we didn’t do that survey because if we did we would be divided on the subject. Thanks again. We owe you. Without you and the other 99 we may have decided to drop down to D2.

Bottom line is we are going to FBS. I really don't care about the age for or against.
#1-I like being the big fish in the small pond
#2-I like the idea of Wake, UNC, ECU, UNCC (if they aren't scrared) instead of sorry D1 teams coming to Boone.
So I'm 50/50, but now leaning more FBS. I really LOVE the playoffs, but at sometime we have to change or get left behind. I do think we will have 30,000 + when we do play teams like Wake, UNC, UNC-Chickens, and ECU. I think we all know the Sunbelt teams don't travel well at all as we would have the highest crowds in the Sunbelt.
I just love ASU football.

What a jump to a conclusion. The people that answer those type of surveys typically fall on the two entremes thus my reference to ACC and D2. They have had over 18 months to get feedback from our fanbase. More people are for than against, luckily most are FOR App State and what the leaders perceive as the best for our program. Those leaders have been clear what that is, a FBS conference that includes regional potential rivals.
If you attended two of those group meetings how come you didn't speak up?
Every group thought FBS was the way to go. Seems like they liked what they heard.
That ship has sailed.

Saint is right on about this. A great number of people I encounter either don't know the difference between the divisions, don't follow conference realignment, or don't have a true idea of where we stand in college athletics. Message boards aren't a good place to get a very good sample, as people on here are the more hard core and educated fans, both pro FCS and FBS. My guess is any kind of survey would look like a typical bell curve with hard cores on both sides, and the majority in the middle who don't care one way or the other and will support App either way, or who have mixed feelings about moving and see the pros and cons from both going FBS or staying FCS
