Re: Stadium enhancements
1.Maybe we can leverage the new video board for some coordination
2. Mic the Band
3. Stop the DJ music between every play
4. Bring the bell back on 3rd down
5. BUY a huge real bell and have Yosef pound it (have it mic'd)
6. Everyone stand on Kickoff and point to the endzone
7.Use the screen to instruct fans when to yell
8. Create a secondary fan cheer to complement App State
9. Ask Jerry Moore(and former players currently in the NFL) to tape a request: He says: " Listen all you App Fans, we need everyone to make noise...so you folks just sitting there get up and do it!"

Re: Stadium enhancements
The above is an example of what I gripe about a lot with expansion. We seem to have lack of vision when planning stages for future expansions. Putting the cart before the horse so we pay double the next stage is senseless. The logical idea to move weight rooms, locker rooms, player student amenities to the north end zone and then major redo for administration is not value stream planning!!!! This is why we are headed for piecemeal and more cost in the future.asutrnr81 wrote:We can find all kinds of thing to gripe about at the end of the day. THE ONLY part of our current stadium sold out with a waiting list is club seating.
There are lots of moving pieces with all of this....more of that in a minute.
I am so grateful to be where we are and never thought I'd live to see our current status or stadium.
I am with 66 and H3 Young guys breathe. Not because I am anybody but I was in a pretty small group meeting with Doug a few weeks ago. I would not be surprised at almost any off campus eventuality. There is a chance we will end up at the old high school facility with a multipurpose facility for track, soccer, FH.......and softball has to have a bigger stadium to host playoff softball games.
In the current situation there is only a 4 hour window for football to practice daily. And it is a static window.
The north end facility will result in moving football staff, locker, weight training, athletic training, and ancillary staff to the old Owens site when complete.
The rest of the athletics would then occupy the current football offices etc.
Obviously renovating some interior space at current facility would be required.
I think when all this starts to happen it will be quick. In terms of the bigger plan. Honestly the timing of when things come open will make other things happen.....so don't get your panties in a wad. Nobody posting here is going to control any of this unless someone can write a very large check.
One would like to think the sideline enclosure ---closer to field would be in consideration ahead of the end zone stand concepts.....But who knows as simple as it is with this place.....I'm afraid chopped liver and spend spend spend money grows on trees mentality is run amuck! Two steps back one step forward.

Same here, bcoach. The canned crap has just about eliminated the band's usefulness.bcoach wrote:My hope is that the new board has NO speakers because I have no faith in them eliminating that canned crap.

Re: Stadium enhancements
The music is just overdone. They actually mix in other stuff besides rap but like others have said it just stupid to play 10 second snippets between plays. It is used as a substitute for crowd noise. I noticed not even the student get into it like they used to. It's become tired. Leave it to longer breaks and I think it would be a very effective tool.

I'd much rather hear the band or crowd than any of the crap they put on the PA.appbio91 wrote:The music is just overdone. Re: Stadium enhancements
I've pondered for a long time the idea of constructing a mini-bell tower in that little patch of grass between the ramp the players take to the field and the student section. Maybe 20-30'. Brick to match the rest of the stadium. Real bell and all.Rekdiver wrote:5. BUY a huge real bell and have Yosef pound it (have it mic'd)
Maybe when I go private and pull my first million I can bank roll the idea

Re: Stadium enhancements
The (soon to be expanded) ribbon displays would be particularly useful for keeping our crowd quiet when we have the ball. Also, maybe display the words to the Alma Mater? None of the current students (and few alumni) know it, which is embarrassing.Rekdiver wrote:7.Use the screen to instruct fans when to yell
This past season, we used the scoreboard to facilitate the "APP-STATE" chant. It was an unmitigated catastrophe. The speed was far too quick, and resulted in the worst iterations of the chant I've ever heard. Unless they slow down the graphic, it needs to go.
If you look at the signs the cheerleaders hold during games, one side says "APP" or "STATE" and the other side says "BLACK" or "GOLD" Thankfully no one has ever attempted the "BLACK-GOLD" chant, to my knowledge.Rekdiver wrote:8. Create a secondary fan cheer to complement App State

Maybe if we gripe enough the PTB will do away with it. Fat chance but worth a try.APPdiesel wrote:How did this become yet another thread about the piped in music?
