Agreed. Beating the Pirates would be a nice statement win for Kermit's Apps. Not only a road victory over an in-state top 25, the boys would come home above .500 after the first road stint.goapps93 wrote:Gonna be a tough one on Sunday. That stadium is a different place when it's full of Pirate fans.

Apps lose 4-0.
Got a good outing from our starter. Offense could only muster two hits.

ECU starter pitched well too. Went about two batters too long with our starter who pitched well. Brill's surgery appears to have been a success. Love seeing the 95 mile an hour fastball. Need to get the sticks going.

I never count moral victories, but that said, this would've been 12-0 last year. I'd much rather be waiting for our bats to come around than our arms.

Was looking forward to seeing the home game on Tuesday, but the weather looks like a pretty certain rainout.

Walks and a bloop single did us in in the 7th, otherwise our pitching and defense played well enough to beat a ranked team. We held our own against 2 ranked teams and beat a team that took down Coastal. Things are trending up.

Re: LeClair Classic/ECU/Greenville
We're in the middle of a stretch of eight-straight games against top-100 teams. It continues Tuesday when we play our first home game, against No. 90 UNC-Asheville, and ends with a weekend series in Columbia, Mo., against No. 87 Missouri. Not only is it exciting to see us show so much improvement in such a short length of time (we're currently No. 122 in RPI), but also we're doing it while playing a challenging schedule (No. 140 in strength of schedule). Yup, exactly. I was at the game yesterday and when it was 1-0 in the 6th I told Pirate fans I was with that I was already chalking this one up to a moral victory as last year it probably would have been a slaughtering.
Watts did a very good job at keeping them off balance, was left in just a tad too long (came back to bite us against UNCW as well), and Brill looked very good out of the pen. I will say some of our guys just looked over matched by Trey Benton at the dish, I don't know if that's something that will change vastly in the course of a season.
Speaking of Trey Benton (ECUs starter on Sunday) damn it must be nice to recruit kids who come in throwing 93 as a true Frosh. That kid is a stud and he showed it yesterday. Overall, not a bad weekend for the Neers.
