Speaking of speed..........how do we get Tacoi Sumler on the field? I'd have him catching punts all offf season.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I agree with you. I think SS will have him on the field a lot this year. He can make a difference in the games for us. He should be 100% healthy once the season starts. He will has his Tacoi "speed demon" coming out party next fall.Rekdiver wrote:Speaking of speed..........how do we get Tacoi Sumler on the field? I'd have him catching punts all offf season.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I think it's more a matter of how does Tacoi Sumler get himself on the field. He has to heal, practice and prove himself to get PT. I think sometimes we look at these recruits and put too much into their stats and highlights and forget that they are playing on a very different level when they get to ASU. It's so easy for us to question what our coaches are thinking about who plays and who doesn't when we aren't the ones in practice with the players everyday. I have confidence, especially in the current staff, that our players will be properly evaluated and those who are deserving will see the adequate playing time.Rekdiver wrote:Speaking of speed..........how do we get Tacoi Sumler on the field? WE ARE YOSEF!
Re: Recruiting, 2013
one thing I like about Sumler, is he didnt pout, or cause a distraction when he didnt get playing time. He could have become a problem, and Im sure he was disappointed with his lack of playing time before his injury, but he seems to have realized he has got to earn his playing time. Im sure SS and the new OC will find creative ways to get him the ball.

Congrats to Thomas Bronson's younger brother -- Robert Hill Bronson -- on being named to the AP's all-state third team in Florida high schools today.

You hit it on the head. If I didn't know better, you have been talking to him and/or his parents. Your post is 10000% correct all around about this student athlete.moehler wrote:one thing I like about Sumler, is he didnt pout, or cause a distraction when he didnt get playing time. Sumler is turning into my favorite player, after what we have seen with other transfers who, and Im putting this as nice as I can, seem to lack a certain maturity and work ethic, its refreshing to see a kid come in here and immediately buy into the program, hope he has a monster year.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
One of mine too. 4 star recruit, 4.2 speed; he could have come in here as a prima donna and said, like a lot of others, "I should be on the field just because of who I am. You're lucky to have me". But from what the coaches have told me he is a very down to earth kid who is happy to be part of the App family and is looking forward to being 100% and contributing next season. I hope he has a monster season too. With who we have coming back and who we have coming in our WR core is going to be scary good for years to come.moehler wrote:Sumler is turning into my favorite player, after what we have seen with other transfers who, and Im putting this as nice as I can, seem to lack a certain maturity and work ethic, its refreshing to see a kid come in here and immediately buy into the program, hope he has a monster year.

They do, it's just not as publicized. George Vinson visited during the Coastal game and is coming back next weekend.Rekdiver wrote:Why can't we get kids to visit us anytime but Winter?
Rivals site posted that next weekend starts the visits for App and they have 4 of their commits coming in. Vinson, Townes, Dante Jones and Marcus Cox. They also have LB Kenan Gilchrist coming in who is said to be leaning towards App

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Below is a story on one of our targets -- OL Parker Collins (6-3, 285) of North Augusta High School in North Augusta, Ga. -- pulled from a Citadel message board:
Highlights:
Posted on October 26, 2012 by Michael Bradley
2013 OL Parker Collins (6’3, 285, 4.6 shuttle) of North Augusta HS in South Carolina has offers from Appalachian St., Georgia Southern, The Citadel, Western Carolina, Newberry, Elon, Youngstown St., Furman, and Coastal Carolina. He’s also hearing from NC State, North Carolina, and Wake Forest.
Collins talked about his contact with the ACC schools. “The coaches at NC State are thinking about a late season offer, told me they’re juggling some numbers,” he said. “I like their program. I’m expecting a call from the staff about the offer anytime.
“Wake Forest is sending me letters along with North Carolina. The Tar Heels have also invited me to a game.”
He’s already visited Furman, Coastal Carolina, The Citadel, Appalachian St., and Georgia Southern, andis working on plans to visit UNC and NC State.
Collins, who owns a 4.2 GPA, says The Citadel is recruiting him the hardest. “I really like the coaches and their style of.play,” he said. “I feel like I have to mention Appalachian St., I have a good relationship with their staff. They’re cool, down to earth guys. They make it feel like family.”
His Top 4 (in no particular order) includes Georgia Southern, Appalachian St., Coastal Carolina, and The Citadel.
Collins wants to stay in the southeast to play college football. “I think I’d prefer to be closer to home. Georgia, North or South Carolina would be perfect. Florida would be a good destination, too.”
He feels the strength of his game is overwhelming defenders physically. “I like mauling defensive linemen, driving them off the ball. I feel I run block best, firing off the line of scrimmage and imposing my will.”
Collins said he’ll make a verbal commitment after he takes his official visits.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
He could have come in here like a prima donna, you're right. But guess what? He wasn't and still didn't see the field all of last year. I will remain skeptical of Sumler until I see him play and contribute to the team. A lot of transfers never pan out. I think we've put too much hype into Sumler because he can run in a straight line really fast...firemoose wrote:One of mine too. 4 star recruit, 4.2 speed; he could have come in here as a prima donna and said, like a lot of others, "I should be on the field just because of who I am. Re: Recruiting, 2013
He was injured at the beginning of the season, which kept him from getting the practice time he needed to fully learn our offense and convince the coaches that he deserved to be on the field. Don't write him off just yet.ASU-FTW wrote: He could have come in here like a prima donna, you're right. But guess what? He wasn't and still didn't see the field all of last year. Re: Recruiting, 2013
Wait until this season. He will be 100% healthy and you will be impressed with what you see out of him. He will be ready. He knew coming in he will have to wait and learn our system. He is a very smart kid who is down to earth. Trust me, this is a good transfer for us in more than one way. It might be a blessing for our recruiting in the Miami, Fl. area.ASU-FTW wrote:He could have come in here like a prima donna, you're right. But guess what? Re: Recruiting, 2013
Thanks to the other posters I won't need to say he came and while learning a new system he was injured. That plus the fact that we were stacked at WR this year equals not a lot of playing time. If he comes in at 100% and still doesn't see the field after having time to learn SS's system then I will decide about him as a player. I like his attitude and that's what I was talking about. You say a lot of transfers never pan out. Well guess what? Recruits don't always pan out either. Sumler is hyped about his speed because you can't teach it. The rest can be taught if you have the right attitude and are willing to be coached. Our coaches are saying he does. I guess we'll see this fall.ASU-FTW wrote:He could have come in here like a prima donna, you're right. But guess what? He wasn't and still didn't see the field all of last year. My wife has met both Tacoi and his parents multiple times and absolutely raves about not only how good a kid he is but also his family is top notch as well. You can't help but pull for those kinds of kids.firemoose wrote:One of mine too. 4 star recruit, 4.2 speed; he could have come in here as a prima donna and said, like a lot of others, "I should be on the field just because of who I am.
