For those that don't know the Big East's initial TV contract in ~$24M or $2M per school, this is much lower than those schools thought.

Meanwhile in the SmallCon, there is no TV deal which equates to ~$0 or $0 per school.

While I would love to hear that we will have an invite by 2/28, I have my doubts.

I DO think that we have options (and are trying to create them), and I DO think we are exploring all of them. I have heard this from multiple sources as well. I don't think we are Sunbelt or bust like GSU, but in the end, if that is where we end up, we will make a good home there.

I personally think the game has changed and the GOF conferences see that now. CUSA's market strategy is ruined... see the offer for the Big East's football package from NBC as proof. The GOF, with the new revenue sharing agreement in the playoff format, must attract PROGRAMS not MARKETS. Our program is superior to all of the FBS move ups already selected and the hopefuls as well. AppState is superior to many existing FBS programs that have been playing for years. We play good football, and we put people in the stands. Our stock just went up. Finally some sanity is returning to the process, and it looks like its happening at the right time for AppState.

They are not looking for a winner, they are looking for one that will make them money and they must not think we are it.

Exactly, $2 million per year per school is not that much money. Early on, that barely pays off these schools exit fees from their prior conference. Hopefully conference commissioners will take notice and realize that performance matters more than lack of performance with a market (UNCC, Tulane, UAB, FAU, North Texas, etc).

I'm understand location. Heck we're right in the middle of the ACC as well but that isn't realistic either.

The Belt is most likely then MAC, then CUSA, any other suggestion isn't in the realm of possibilities.

Actually, the ACC is not a fit. with 4 schools already in the conference from NC, a 5 would not make sense unless some of them left now or in the future.

With the Big East taking ECU... which may have a head start on football, but OLY sports that are no better than ours... and considering Southern Miss... both rural schools with traditionally good football programs. I could see possibilities there. The BE map is a bit thin in the Mid Atlantic area, and they have taken schools like UConn and USF that were former FCS teams in the not too distant past. With the divide between snooty basketball schools and football schools resolved... it may make more sense than you indicate, as AppState is on par in my opinion with the remaining BE football schools... Either now, or after we have played in the FBS for a while. SBC and MAC would have us on the northern or southern fringe of the current footprint of those conferences. The fact that there is a shift in thinking may make CUSA and BE possible dark horses.

Quite frankly given the changes in the BE conference, I would surprised if AppState has not made contact with them.

92, there is zero chance of the Big East taking an FCS member in a remote location. They will expand via CUSA, they are not a viable option for App State.

Maybe this has been discussed in the week-long dedicated UNCC thread that has taken over this board but if the Big East wanted another NC school, they'd look their way. Market, better basketball.

The Big East will poach C-USA or MAC. They wouldn't even take a Sun Belt school other than maybe WKU if they wanted a basketball addition, much less an FCS program.

Our most realistic options are the Sun Belt or CAA, with the MAC and C-USA being pretty remote possibilities. Looking above them on the food chain is a pipe dream.
