FWIW. We're 7-15-1 vs the Deacons.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 9:14 pmMan that’s tough. For me none of the losses as FCS. Wake because we were at home maybe- but we used to beat them a good bit. How about Miami? First big time school at home? Maybe. Penn State- I think I go with that game even more than UGA or Clemson. If the criteria is games we should have won then definitely PSU!

Here is one way to think about it. Wake and Tenn hurt but we lost with teams without a full roster of FBS players. We just played our first game with a full roster of 85 FBS players and wow!

For me Wake by a mile for one reason. My area...recruiting. We don't recruit against PSU or Tenn. We do against Wake and we've lost several commits to poaching from them in the last few years. We blew a good chance to have at least a little ammo to use against them. Need to take care of business in 20'.

I want all three. And while we’re at it, give me the home game against stAte in 2016.

I was at that game, it had to be hotter than the seventh ring of hell in greenville that day. My goodness it was awful; but if Armanti had played well you know...

I consider 7 wins out of 23 games quite a bit considering we were FCSNewApp wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 1:28 pmFWIW. Tennessee by a nose. Love to have a win over an SEC team. Don't think we've ever beaten one.

Penn State.
I was at the game and have now watched 3 times on DVR. If the Penn State DB makes the tackle on Moore or he slides or steps out of bounds, we have 1st down inside the 10 yard line with less than 1:40 to play; take a knee three times and kick a field goal as time expires. App wins 34-31.

Re: I'm curious, quick poll
Had we beaten Clemson, they'd have not made the 4 team playoff. I hope for a repeat at SC and was there the last time we played, a 39-34 victory over the Jeff Grantz led Cocks. As the game progressed, my mind became quite foggy - you could easily carry in whatever you needed if it was halfway hidden. And walk on the field (rush it?) at the end of game. Most of our crowd was dazed for two reasons. ... I am old, however, I was not at the Alamo. Neither was I at Michigan (we had a game that Friday night) nor was I at Penn State. No frivilous claims.

Re: I'm curious, quick poll
The years following the Michigan win were frustrating because we were getting dominated by the P5 teams we played. We even had the disappointing performances against ECU...including the tragic "almost comeback" under Cadet...a game I believe we would have won if Armanti had been able to play (purely academic exercise).
The last three years have been painful with last near misses decided on the final play (two in OT). That being said, the days when App shows up as a sacrificial lamb are OVER. I don't believe we ever did that intentionally, but we now have the talent and leadership to compete. The wins will come! I am really excited about the rest of this season, but the prospects of next year have my head spinning. The possibility of beating UNC and South Carolina back to back....WOW.
OK...That's officially getting WAY ahead of things....Let's win against Charlotte first....then Southern Miss...etc.
Answering the question is really difficult. The emotional answer is Wake. That loss was disappointing because we gave it away....not just on the blocked kick, but the off-sides on the punt which preserved their go ahead scoring drive. Tennessee was damn bad luck because we had them stopped and they won on a FUMBLE recovery in the end-zone. PAINFUL! Penn State would be the win with the most impact though, so if I had to choose one of the three, that's the one I'd choose.

For sure; also, the first 22 games were all played as road games in Winston of course..bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 1:10 pmI consider 7 wins out of 23 games quite a bit considering we were FCSNewApp wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 1:28 pmFWIW.
