I'm not opposed to the SBC but prefer CUSA because playing ODU, Charlotte, MTSU, and Marshall appeals to me more than anyone in the Sun Belt other than Ga. Southern.

I was confused and disappointed when UNCC and ODU were picked (mostly UNCC), but now, seeing how that conference has lost all of its quality teams.. save Southern Miss (which had an really bad 2012 season and may leave as well) to the BE I do not feel as bad... topping that off: CUSA then compounded their flawed thinking by taking the weakest schools in the Sun Belt because of their mailing address. I think they have made a potentially a grave mistake. CUSA lost a lot of attractiveness in my eyes, and it was not because she was a girl that would not dance with us at the party.

With the revenue sharing program rewarding GOF conferences for quality football... CUSA's expansion failure is complete.

Not to restate the obvious, but our tough positon right now is due to the CUSA "strategy" of preferring large markets over successful programs and past attendance. In the food chain, we should be grouped with CUSA schools, BUT since they don't want a small market school, and the perceived next step up (Big East) doesn't want to add another FCS program, we are in the dubious position of just hoping for any FBS conference where we can wait out the final shake-ups of the power conferences. So if SBC is our only hope to get out of the SoCon- That is where we should end up for now, and like it.

That's interesting. Quite a few on the old MMB were commenting that KS would be a good addition to the SoCon a while back. I wasn't one of them, though.

Assuming that Georgia Southern and ASU are gone, I believe that adding Kennesaw and East Tennessee would be very appealing to Western Carolina and UTC.

My how times have changed. It wasn't that many years ago the mention of FBS and the Sun Belt would have triggered ridicule and hate upon the poster. Now 92% of the votes cast are in favor of FBS with a majority of those give a nod to the Sun Belt. Although it appears the Belt may be where we land and on paper arguably the better overall conference, CUSA is the without question the better fit geographically. Which translates into better financially for the school. I have no problem with UNCC. They did what was needed for their school and we should not have to depend on their (or ECU's) people to make a way for us. Who did they have working on their behalf? In this game it's every man for himself and you need people savvy enough to make it happen. I am not convinced we have that in Charlie. He seems to be an adequate administrator, but his lack of a personality and poor judgement in running his mouth has not helped our chances.

As far as our Athletic Director, Charlie Cobb, is concerned, I am really disappointed that we have not continued to improve Kidd Brewer. Posting a picture of a third level on the East side and a much larger North end zone seating two years ago isn't getting it done. We have better facilities than many schools, but nothing that would stick out to help us into a conference we would revel in being in.

That being said the Sun Belt seems to be the most open to us joining. It's not a slam dunk though it seems. This BCS revenue sharing by conference has made many Sun Belt people leery of adding any schools. Some even think adding NMSU, an existing FBS school, would be better - many because they have a good basketball program.

I would take any, and I mean any, FBS offer right now. The main thing is to get our FBS transition going. After that we would be much more desirable to any conference. The Sun Belt would be good for us. We might decide to stay there for years.

I am only interested in CUSA because currently they have a better TV contract. That might change over the next few years. The other appeal of CUSA is locality of so many current members within easy driving distance of Boone. Marshall, Middle Tennessee, UNCC, and ODU would be very doable for Oly sports. Truthfully I feel that Marshall and UNCC fans are fans I do not want to continually hear their cheap crap day by day. This turns me off, even though I would like to beat the crap out of their teams, especially in football.

But let's concentrate on any FBS conference, if we do not get into FBS soon, our athletic programs are going to suffer even more than they have.

I am in absolutely no way attempting to troll here, I just have an honest to God question for you guys.

It is clear that you all prefer the Sun Belt to C-USA. I just don't understand why? The Big East needs one more football playing member. If they pick Tulsa, WKU is next on board for C-USA. That's as good as done once the Big East/Catholic schools figure their stuff out. C-USA has essentially become the Sun Belt + UAB Southern Miss Marshall, and UTEP. Is it just a matter of you guys wanting to be with other FCS powers moving to FBS? Once again, I in no way mean this as a trolling attempt I was just curious.
