Most of this is based on how the conferences are TODAY. This is not how they will be in 5 years or less. This situation is fluid and will remain so for several years. If Maryland does not win their case against the ACC then the moves will be more subtle, but there will still be moves, because win or lose the Big 4 (or 5) are going to do everything they can to take as much money as they can. But if they do win then the moves will be large and far reaching. The lynch pin for this entire situation is that case. Lose and the Go5 will make a few moves to solidify their positions. Win and the Go5 will take an even bigger hit and there will be a movement to more regional conferences and divisions in order to save money. The biggest obstacle we face is getting in the door. If offered an invite then we have to take it. If we get in then we're in a much better position to see how things shake out and to make additional moves. It will be much harder if we are still FCS.

I voted Sun Belt simply because I believe that is the conference we will make to jump to. I would much rather be in CUSA because of the location of the schools in the conference, but I do think the Sun Belt has better football at this point. As we all know that could change quickly depending on how things shake out with the top 5 conferences and TV deals. For a while I've felt that we have to take the first invite available and then try to sort things out once in FBS. I guess I just don't trust the NCAA enough to wait any longer for what may happen with the rules for joining the Group of 5 and/or limits placed on what’s left of FCS. Do we play it safe (fiscally) and stay in FCS for a few more years, or take a leap of faith to join the Sun Belt with the hopes of getting hooked up with more teams in our region? Tough decision to make...unless CUSA offers then it's a no-brainer.

You personally get us an invitation to CUSA, which our administration tried and tried to do, and then let us and Charlie Cobb know that you obtained one for us.
If not, be very very satisfied if and when we ever get into the Sun Belt.

I didn't say you were picking on me, rather I just wondered why you didn't address it to the one who penned it in the first place or both of us. Lol
I actually have no strong opinions about where we go except for the risks of losing our arses off on the books as well as making it difficult for large enough numbers to attend road games (from our fanbase of course). I don't mind ponying up a G or so to go to LSU,etc but a G or so to a directional Louisiana school doesn't excite me. I like hearing David on WKBC well enough. I'm sure I'm not the one who feels that way.
