Was it intentional? If not, it is a great conincidence. 1st App State Spring Practice/Scrimmage at Ardrey Kell HS in Charlotte @2:00 P.M. on 4/13 and then 4/20 in Boone the same as UNCC 1st Spring Scrimmage at UNCC Stadium at 1:00 P.M. Wonder who will draw more fans???

Not really a fair comparison. This is the first big football event in the history of our program in a 15,000 seat Stadium. Our students have to request tickets ahead of time just to attend a spring game.

This is just one spring practice for you guys in a high school stadium that probably seats 7,000.

If we don't out draw you guys on that day, our (Charlotte) program is in trouble.

That was actually at Fanfest and we continued having that. We discontinued spring games before that happened, but you are right in that it was related to injuries....at least that's my recollection.

You guys do realize we had a spring game last year, right?

The reason they had cut them out was because the team wasn't healthy enough the past couple of years to have it (or so Moore said)

Not so much. Have no desire to do the research but any number of schools will be having a Spring Game on a Saturday in April. It's time to wish the 49'ers good luck and then look forward to developing a rivalry down the road.

Do colleges do controlled scrimmages with each other anymore? I remember Gardner Webb coming up for one when I was at APP.

Not per NCAA rules.

Some bigger BCS type schools have been talking about it. A televised spring scrimmage.

Agreed. Good luck to the Niners maybe they will eventually do something to earn some disrespect from ASU.

Something that's been on my mind recently and I guess this is as good a place to present it as any.

I'm really pleased with the plan to have a practice in Charlotte. I'm also really excited about an official spring game game in Boone. The events on back to back weekends though has me concerned about the spring game attendance. I believe I read somewhere that many recruits will be in Boone for the spring game and the importance of having a good turnout. I think it is important to have a good crowd for both events but how many are going to be able to or even make an attempt to be at both? Also think I saw where the spring game will be broadcast on the radio, which I also think is cool but may help some to make the decision to stay at home.

Am I overly concerned about nothing or does anyone else see a a potential decrease because of the abundant opportunities to see App this spring?

I want to make it clear though that I'm not complaining because I think its great we are doing these things. Just a lot of time on my hands lately and something that crossed my mind.

I'll be at both. Ardrey Kell is a stone's throw from where I work and I need any excuse I can to go back up the mountain. I think we could see ~4000 people in attendance for each (conservative estimate), but the Charlotte scrimmage is pretty unprecedented so it will be interesting to see how our support is in the area.
