Facilities make the socon look peewee alright. Over 20,000 acg att. isnt any worse either.

Too bad Sam Martin is gone, he could have put a few skylights in for Idaho.

I'm not sure what exactly it is about the stadium but Texas State's field really seems to catch my eye. Would love to take a trip down to see our Apps take on the bobcats!

I agree that Texas States looks good, probably because it was expanded in the last few years. However the problem that I have with Texas State's is that they doubled the seating capacity but all the new seats are in the end zone. If you look at the layout you will see that over half the seats are in the end zone. Also the upper decks are only about 10 to 12 rows deep. Our seats when I taught there were in the upper deck on the last row, so I could lean against the press box.

We need to take a page out of their book, they did an excellent job of expansion. Removed the track, added seats and did it without having to lower the field. I know some don't think it is a big deal but the track at KBS has got to go. We would be the only school in the conference that plays football in a multi-purpose facility. If App is playing at the highest level and wants to bring in high level programs, the team needs (and deserves) to have a football-only facility with at least 30,000 permanent seats.

I agree Texas St has a great looking stadium, love the attention to detail, looks like they spent a few extra dollars to make it look that good, and yes we have got to get rid of that track, I know, moneys tight, easier said than done, but when I see a top view of the stadium, how great everything looks, with the mountains in the background, and then you see that god awful red track, makes us look bush league. Hell, I wish App would start a specific fundraiser to get rid of the track, I would donate in a second.

Texas State's stadium has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 5-6 seasons. I remember watching them and GSU play in ~2005, thinking, that's a nice little stadium. They had a 2nd deck on the home side, and had a nice pressbox, but the visitor sideline wasn't decked, and the end zones had no permanent seating.

Texas State's stadium has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 5-6 seasons. I remember watching them and GSU play in ~2005, thinking, that's a nice little stadium. They had a 2nd deck on the home side, and had a nice pressbox, but the visitor sideline wasn't decked, and the end zones had no permanent seating.

I'm pretty sure that both sides (visitor and home) both had upper decks at the time of the GSU game. They were both there and no construction when I got there in January of 2006.

What is new is the permanent bowling in of the north endzone, the metal bleachers in the south end zone in front of the end zone complex, and the large press box and luxury box structure on the home (west) side of the stadium.

By the way, the guy withh the beer is in one of the luxury boxes in the new press box structure.

I thought about that when I was replying to Beau (I almost made a side comment to Doug Glenn). I noticed that Beau used the term "visitor's sideline" not side for that very reason. It just makes it easier to note which side you're talking about, but your comment is very valid. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the visitor section at Texas State will be located in that huge expanse of usually empty end zone seating.

I wouldn't use home/away for Boone and KBS, but saying north, south, east or west in reference to Texas State's stadium would have a)confused me and b)forced everyone else to go look at their seating chart. I didn't want to get into all that.

As it relates to the upper deck on the seating behind the visitor sideline , I could have been mistaken about the timing of it's construction. I knew that the endzones were not yet complete, though.

According to Wikipedia Texas State's stadium seats 30,000, of which 14,000 was added by bowling in the End Zone in 2012.
