Isn't much of Old Crow from Harrisinning, and didn't Doc give them their break in Boone? Perhaps We could fight for a wagonwheel...

Isn't Tim and Tickle from around the James Madison area?

Martinsville/Chatham. Maybe halfway between JMU and App.

The all-time series is 12-4 ASU. Sounds about right for a Mountain Jug series!

i think the chatham area was used for that show...and interestingly enough bill from sc with the goatee and glasses went to hargrave in chatham with me back in the 80's...ill see him at the hargrave reunion in a few weeks. he's a real gentle, laid back guy.

Interesting decision. ECU and Tulsa leaving and UNCC and ODU entering is not a real good tradeoff, especially UNCC (until they prove themselves on the field). The decision was made a while ago. One would have thought that they would have looked at who was leaving and who was coming in but I really feel, as I've said many times here, this isn't about today. This is about positioning for where things will be in 5 years or less. No one really knows what's going to happen but there is no doubt that this isn't over yet. How far it goes is the only thing left to see. To use a naval term from one of the big battleships, these moves are just the star shell from the 5 incher. When the main batteries fire, which will happen, then we'll see how far things blow up and who is willing to make the big moves. Good chance we haven't seen the last of them as conference mates. Of course the same thing could be said of just about any Non-AQ school east of the Mississippi, depending on how big the explosion is.

Wish ULL was the one leaving. Although the Hilltoppers' BB program is better, JMU or Liberty is a much better situation for us than WKU. I am ignoring all the trash talk and condescending comments about our move and the SB image taking a hit. We're in the club and this thing could really turn in our favor big time.

Moose, I have thought for a long time that eventually, even with GIANT egos in play, regional conferences will HAVE to be established by those not in a "super conference" to, as Terry Holland said, "put butts in the seats" at the games. Regional rivalries are vital to college football. I don't know how long that will take for a re-shuffling to occur but I'd say around 5 years... I've heard some more informed folks say 7-8 years. App State being in the conversation now is huge.

I surely hope James Madison accepts the invite so it doesn't go to Liberty instead. The Sun Belt does not want to deal with the negative image that comes with Liberty, and I'm sure many other conferences feel the same way.

The incessant ULL, and to a lesser extent, Ark State, whining is hilarious.

Neither program is going anywhere. If they added anything at all to C-USA they would have been gone already. Instead, like us, they're watching as crap teams from media markets (where no one cares about said crap team) get the invites instead.

Based on another thread...not my own research.....They should not be too offended! We would have the largest stadium capacity, JMU 4th and GSU 8th!...Sounds like we might be the ones offended!

If the figures below are football stadium capacities, those are not accurate at all for stAte . . Liberty Bank Stadium is the home of Arkansas State University’s football Red Wolves. Originally, a 16,000 seat facility, the structure has undergone some changes over the years. When ASU declared Division I-A status in 1991, additional seating was added to meet capacity requirements. Capacity expanded to seat 30,708.

Did someone pee in the Sun Belt pool and not tell us about it?

I much prefer the butts in seat measurement. For regular season games, ASU would have lead the Sun Belt in attendance in 2012.

GSU would also have been over 20,000 mark.

App - 27,964
Ark State - 26,398
Monroe - 24,981
Lafayette - 22,865
Troy - 20,952
Georgia Southern - 20,087
North Texas - 18,927
Middel Tenn - 17,738
Western Ky - 17,415
South AL - 16,793
FIU - 13,634
FAU - 13,459

I guess I don't get the derision by ULL and Ark State when you're bringing in two quality programs that have actual fans.

Yeah, that's why I've been using the 5 year mark in most of my posts. I have talked to many people and I've heard anything from 3 to 8 years. But I've heard more in the 5 year time frame than anything else (not for moves to start but for the moves to be finished). What a lot of people fail to think of is what effect these moves by the Power conferences have on those members already in the Go5. While our move will make us spend more, with the revenue sharing from the conferences we are not going to lose budget money but will gain some. Not a ton but some. The schools already there, should the Power conferences get their way, will actually be losing money from their budgets. That is why most people believe that, once the big guys sort themselves out, the ones left will have to either merge or poach in order to form regional conferences to cut down on travel expenses. Our biggest problem was being left out should all this go down and we were still FCS. We are now in the door and thus in the mix. We'll bite the bullet for a few years but in the long run this will work out as conferences sort out the best way for each to get as big a piece of the pie as they can.

Money is always the key and even with all the big guys are going to take there will be more for the lower FBS schools than there ever would be for FCS schools, which is why several of the conferences are talking about scholarship reductions. And as far as TV revenue goes it's hard for us or GaSou to do any worse than the SoCon has done for us these many years. Basically $1.00 would be more than we've gotten. Can't do much worse.

I think those are actually average attendance numbers from the NCAA site.

I think we might as well accept this attitude for now. We are the new kids on the block and it dings their self image. ULL and Arkansas State stand to lose the most because they are at the top of the football heap right not. They might as well enjoy their smart aleck attitudes while they can. I strongly believe that we will silence these criticisms quickly once the competitions start. Until then, they are just loading out bulletin boards with motivational material.

I am still scoffing. The Sun Belt has ZERO private schools. Let alone one as polarizing as the Flames. Funny mascot considering Falwells many flame rants he went on.

I don't see Liberty making the cut under any circumstances.

Two years ago (maybe even 18 months), WKU was the poster child for the anti-FBS bunch as what ASU is destined to become if we were to move. My how times have changed, indeed.
It just goes to show...make the right coaching hires & a lot can change, good or bad. Think about Youngstown...how good they used to be. Still have the 2nd most I-AA titles, but haven't been able to recapture the magic since Tressel left. People assumed we would dominate FCS forever, but there are no guarantees...gotta move up when you can.
