I have a sister in the west Rowan area. They rarely go to Salisbury. Too many problems there.

I inherited my home-place in Spencer near North Rowan High School and North Middle School. I grew up there at a time when you never thought about locking your doors at night. Sadly, those days are gone with the wind. "Quoth the raven..."

I grew up just across the river in Davidson County. Salisbury used to be a nice place to visit, and we went there for errands more than Lexington. Surprised to hear of all the violence and issues there the last few years.

Salisbury is my home town and unfortunately it suffers from relatively high unemployment, drug problems and lots of property crime. The town has never totally recovered from the closing of much of the textile industry many years ago. There are signs of recovery and economic development currently, but still a long way to go.

Sounds like a lot of former manufacturing towns across the country.
