Yeah I heard GD and "F" at least 50 times....Just glad my nephews didn't hear...I like the passion though...bh2oson wrote:I was also sitting by the press box. I loved hearing the defensive coaches yelling out the play as it was about to happen and then hearing the sidelines relay it to the team.

That's not the image we need going out to Mom's & Dads of prospective recruits and students who may have been in the crowd. Not to mention to the youngest App Fans there. Very disappointing to hear.AppState89 wrote:Yeah I heard GD and "F" at least 50 times....Just glad my nephews didn't hear...I like the passion though...bh2oson wrote:I was also sitting by the press box. Re: Charlotte Scrimmage Roll Call
I guess this kid was a coach. He looked to be in his early 20s. I agree with you, we don't need that language by coaches unless they are in the press box or where fans can't hear them. I know it goes on and I don't care if I hear it, but I don't know how I would explain that to my nephews who are 9 and 6....Kgfish wrote:That's not the image we need going out to Mom's & Dads of prospective recruits and students who may have been in the crowd. Re: Charlotte Scrimmage Roll Call
I'm curious Clayton. Were you or any of the posters on the board link you posted earlier actually at the scrimmage? If you or they didn't attend then how, EXACTLY, do you know or can even try and guess how many people were there? Since there are people on here that were in the stands then I think I will defer to them on an estimate of how many people attended. What you and the other posters on your board who weren't there are doing is no different than saying you hate a TV program that you've never watched or you hate a resturant you've never eaten at. In other words you have no idea what you are talking about so I suggest it's time to drop the subject.ImfromClayton wrote:That's funny, as the pictures I posted were from YOUR fans on Twitter/instagram.newtoasu wrote:And crop it at the hedge to "prove" their point.Rekdiver wrote:Don't show that to the unc-c folkss they will call that 15 people.........

Re: Charlotte Scrimmage Roll Call
First off, why do our fans feel the need to validate our attendance to UNCC fans? For those of us who were there, we saw the turnout. When my father asked me how many I thought were there, I estimated 2,000 based purely on having the one side almost packed. I speculate the 49ers will have a solid turnout for their 1st official spring game and good for them if they do. I am no UNCC hater and definitely felt they could be a threat down the road when they announced the start of football. However, I will begin to give them attention when our two programs meet on the gridiron. The Cabin should put a moratorium on even mentioning them in the App Football folder until the game is scheduled.
As for the scrimmage, I agree with the poster who mentioned the punters needing work. I realize we were spoiled by Martin's performance but a couple of things I noticed were the need to get the punt off quicker (see block) and the need for more hang time. I did my best to clock the hang times and they ranged from 3.7 - 4.0 seconds. Most of the 4's came during practice while scrimmage punts registered sub 4's. Also noticed some rugby style punts being attempted.

I agree. Kicking needs work. I sort of expected a sarcastic cheer from the fans upon the successful completion if the first extra point (based on the last one attempted in game action).

By the way, ImfromClayton is a civil sort. He messes with you passively. The Charlotte corwd got really upset when we said there were 1500 at the scrimmage. For some reason the don't realize they share this backyard with a lot of schools. There is this flaming 1973 grad 49er fan with an Airborne avatar under his name who kills me. Of course he's on his board and i've trolled his site and been messing with him. He brings out the UNC-Tweetsie stuff. Thinks he busting my arse but he's pretty stupid. You ought to read his stuff. I tried to start with a request for UNCC to play us and explained the mutual benefit of a home and home. Most seemed receptive. Ther will be more smack between our schools this year than we will have with STink fans.

Holloway is recovering from an injury (according to the newspaper report).ASUchipman wrote:Im not going to debate how many people were or were not there. I would like to discuss what everyone's opinion of the team was. I was very impressed with Paul Magloire at running back. I thought he was recruited as a QB, but he can definately run the ball. Was it me or was Holloway MIA? I sat on the defense side, and was impressed with the defense also. I believe we are going to field a receiving corp that anyone would be proud of. I just hope we get it to them. Special teams, the kickers looked good, but I was a little disappointed in the punters. I guess we were spoiled by Sam Martin.

Thanks man. For the Record, I totally agree with you guys on a few things. Some of our fans are crazy about this stuff. But all fan bases have crazy fans.Rekdiver wrote:By the way, ImfromClayton is a civil sort. He messes with you passively. Re: Charlotte Scrimmage Roll Call
The truth is that UNCC or "Charlotte" as they like to be called now, will be in a higher conference very soon. North Carolina has to have team in the Big 10 and SEC soon, so most likely UNC or NC State goes...UNCC takes their place.
Appalachian better come out of the gate fast, or we will be forever cast away as a mediocre "Marshall type athletics program in a bottom feeder conference"

Re: Charlotte Scrimmage Roll Call
UNCC will never be in the ACC. Stop drinking and posting, my friend! Further, CUSA is not a "higher" conference. We all know the percept thing, but the ON FIELD results don't bear that out. They have expanded by adding some very week programs (UNCC, FAU, FIU) so I don't see that changing. MTSU, WKU and ODU were potentially good adds, but the CUSA / SBC competition will be dead even for a while. I think SBC has an excellent chance of pulling ahead.ggasu wrote:The truth is that UNCC or "Charlotte" as they like to be called now, will be in a higher conference very soon. Re: Charlotte Scrimmage Roll Call
App or UNCC will never be in the ACC. Even if they lose State or UNC, they've got a stranglehold on NC with the three other in-state schools that neither school would strengthen.
Years down the road, depending in how both schools do at the FBS level, the AAC is the only realistic destination. Given their market, they'd have a leg up there.
