Kendall Lewis Transferring
Just read that he is headed to Illinois State. Is that old news? I never heard exactly what his issues were this past season.

Re: Kendall Lewis Transferring
He was dismissed pretty early into the year (mid Jan) so it was common knowledge that his spot would be replaced on the roster. His scholarship spot is the last one available for us right now.
Not sure what caused him to be dismissed, but wish him all the best at Illinois State.

KLewis has been mum on his situation from the get-go. He's not about to open up about it at this late date. If a felony charge had been involved, it would have been in the headlines months ago. LEOs are under no restriction to release or to withhold info about such charges for adult citizens unless it's in the best interest of an open investigation or a court order is in place.
Educational institutions, on the other hand, are kept in check by federal law. Here's why we're never going to know the real deal on Lewis...Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Re: Kendall Lewis Transferring
Lewis' situation was not legal issues. It was a violation of team rules. Kerns did not specify what team rules were violated, but if like 66 said, if it was legal issues, it would have been public.
My guess, and this is only a guess, is it was academic related. Not necessarily grades because that would also be known, but more along the lines of skipping class, missing study hall, etc. This is 100% a guess though as it has been kept close to the chest of the program.

Both of us know almost enough to be dangerous.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 8:18 pmLewis' situation was not legal issues. It was a violation of team rules. Kerns did not specify what team rules were violated, but if like 66 said, if it was legal issues, it would have been public.

It's sad to lose a young, talented player like Kendall, but this learning experience may have been the best thing for him and his future success in life. To his credit, available evidence indicates that he remained in school at App to finish the spring semester. That should have him in gear (academics-wise...semester hours + GPA) for his transfer and eligibility. The fact that he's landing on his feet at Illinois State suggests to me that Chancellor Everts went to bat for him with Redbirds Head Coach Dan Muller. Muller was at ISU during the years that Everts served as the Redbirds VP for Academic Affairs, Provost and Interim President. I suspect her endorsement still carries some hefty weight there. I also suspect Coach Kerns played a big role in helping Kendall get a second chance.
Best wishes to Kendall. I hope all of his his experiences (on and off the court) at App State help him to stay on the straight and narrow and ultimately lead to an earned degree and a successful career in that big ol' mean world out there.
