Re: Endzone question
I still think having the visiting team using the old lockers on the West side and having to cross through the App crowd is a really bad idea.

Re: Endzone question
Somebody needs to move that camera to the right so we have a better view. Spring practice is over so no chance of others spying.

Re: Endzone question
So now that NEZ is "sort of" wrapped up, maybe the university can get around to other pressing issues:
1. Signing the contract and getting the 105 Facility project going
2. Repairing/replacing the worn out concrete in the lower sections on both East and West sides
I'm sure it would've been a lot of work (and money), but it would've made sense for the concrete work in the bleachers to be completed while everything else was torn up.
It's pretty embarrassing. Where we sit in the stands, the wrecked concrete looks like something you'd see in Beirut or the Gaza Strip. Definite head-scratcher.

I would like to see new lighting installation for better lighting for night games. .....and, of course, better TV cameras placements so it does not give appearance that games are being filmed from Howard's Knob

Re: Endzone question
I agree on the lighting. I really like the new LED lights being used. The effects these lights can create during the teams entrance or after a score are pretty cool. Would love to get them at The Rock!Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 6:47 amI would like to see new lighting installation for better lighting for night games. .....and, of course, better TV cameras placements so it does not give appearance that games are being filmed from Howard's Knob

Re: Endzone question
The west sideline camera bays in the athletics facility aren’t going anywhere. It would be nice to move those tv crews to those old nests on the east side so the crowd shots would be of the students, but I just don’t see them doing that.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 6:47 amI would like to see new lighting installation for better lighting for night games. .....and, of course, better TV cameras placements so it does not give appearance that games are being filmed from Howard's Knob
I think we built that building too big. The amount of floors + the fact that the field is cut out of the mountain makes it like 8-10 stories off the field. You’re right it seems like Goodyear Blimp footage.

I really don't remember watching games where the main cameras were on the opposite side from the announcers -

Re: Endzone question
Since everything is fairly well complete with the current phase optically with KBS.....hope someone can soon pop some photos on here of the finished product. Nothing on the net and the endzone cam doesn't show much.

Re: Endzone question
Was in there last week. There is a decent amount of work left on the inside. Coaches offices and meeting rooms are the most complete, but nothing that photos can get you excited about.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 6:42 pmSince everything is fairly well complete with the current phase optically with KBS.....hope someone can soon pop some photos on here of the finished product. Re: Endzone question
This isn’t likely to happen in the NEZ. The entire second floor has a balcony facing the field from the coaches offices and the recruiting room. Also, the pregame and in game experience from the field level won’t allow for it. The team enters from the middle of the complex. There are going to be two field level patios as well that also will prevent the use of temporary bleachers.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 9:14 amFor the big ticket draws such as when Carolina comes to town.....I hope they plan to put back in the temporary aluminum stands and fill in the whole area to back of endzone leaving ample room for player play follow through at very back of endzone for safety unlike some football stadiums that crowd the back of endzone too much.

Re: Endzone question
I am pretty sure the plan is to eventually add permanent lower stands in the NEZ. The description on the App website states there is a plan to connect the East and West concourses in the future. I would assume this is with lower lever seating and that second story balcony will be extended and become the concourse with stands going off it. The coaches offices would then be opened to concession stands.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 11:34 amThis isn’t likely to happen in the NEZ. For a big event such as Carolina I dont see why they would not add temp bleachers. They can leave a gap for the team to enter.

Re: Endzone question
I get what your saying but I don’t see it happening in that manner. When I toured the facility, the recruitment room and balcony overlooking the field was emphasized as a big deal. I just don’t see them closing it off. Secondly, you are correct. There is a plan to connect the NEZ to the east and west but not with seats. Plans can change of course, but that isn’t how it was communicated to me three weeks ago.Mountaineers89 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 1:52 pmI am pretty sure the plan is to eventually add permanent lower stands in the NEZ. Re: Endzone question
Level 2 contains the meeting rooms on the inside and the coaches offices and the recruiting room are field side. There is a balcony than runs along the field side that overlooks the field. It is covered by the stands, which extend down from the 4th level.

Re: Endzone question
Honest, straight-forward question here. No hidden agenda...just a concern. I don't get to campus very often a more because I can no longer drive. My four days a week to drive to the High Country ended a couple of years ago. It's killin' me, but I'm adjustin' to it kickin' and screamin...
Anyway, what has happened with the state-of-the-art (at least when it opened) training room with all of the in-floor whirlpools, hot/steam baths, etc on the team(s) floor? And what has been done with the river-rock and stained/varnished hardwood walls/lockers that Coach Moore donated to the facility out of his hip pocket and dedicated to the memory of the Legendary Duggins' Boys teams of yesteryears?
I don't get warm fuzzies about the Tarhicks or any other visitors planting their posteriors anywhere within those now historic walls. I suspect Jerry Moore would have tremendous misgivings--especially if the new, App players' facilities are in any way inferior to those in the south end of the Athletics Center bldg. Perhaps the statue and plaza out front made any misgivings Jerry may have had fade away!
Someone who appsolutely knows the plan--please fill us all in! (Now I get it that Red/Orange Sweater Boy is gone and a new and better AD has his own ideas and plans. No prob for me. I'm on DG's team...period.) It's just that it hit me in a blind spot (no pun intended) that visiting teams would now be running through the tunnel and and up the hill onto the field for pre-game ceremonies. That caught me with my "guard" down.

Re: Endzone question
L would hope those facilities are to be used by the other APP sports teams. I voiced my displeasure about having visiting teams dressing there and was told that it wasn’t written in stone.
