I don't think people really know what is going on around them. We are still not in a great economy. NASCAR is down, country club memberships are down. We don't have the disposable income that we had 10 years ago. We really need to be a little more thankful for what we have. We stack up very well against most FBS facilities. We have been told that over and over by NFL scouts. There will be expansion at some point but acting like a bunch of winey brats will do nothing. Let's get behind what we have and quit worrying about what we don't have. Now if you just can't wait then just write a check and stop worrying about spending other peoples money.

So that's what you guys mean by branding. I don't think that is a very good idea in general.

Huh?

Your comments have become progressively more incomprehensible over the past few months. Is there a gas leak?

What is this a circle .... of Charlie Cobb's children?
You know nothing, but excusing them for not even making a statement.
Would not cost a dang penny to issue a statement. Why keep saying
we don't have the money. No one is asking for anyone to spend any
money, just to give us a time line. Not asking anyone on this board to
do anything. Is that a concept that is too hard to
understand? Too in depth in detail to comprehend? Now change the
subject again and make snide comments, they serve you well if your
intentions are to misdirect and poke fun at everything said. Grow up
a little.

Not the funniest comment I have ever made or heard but if it went WAY over your head maybe you need a nap. You are usually a little quicker than that. I have noticed by the way that you tend to be a little negative. :)

I'm right there with you as far as ASU Athletics and their continued trend of piss poor communication. See my blog post post-Moore debacle. http://appstatecentral.com/content/app- ... munication

What do you want them to say? Maybe they don't have a definite plan at this point. Maybe they can't make a timeline if they don't know where the money in coming from. I just think that we can give them a little breathing room. We are going into uncharted waters. I don't think we may know what we need at this point. It may be a while before we need any more capacity. I am not really worried about it and I am not a member of the Charlie fan club. I can take him or leave him. Maybe they should just put out a statement that says they have not formulated a plan yet but I don't think that would make you happy but I could be wrong. If this sounds snide then I apologize because I don't mean it that way. I just don't see all the anger over this. We have what we need at this point and I have no problem with them taking their time and doing it right. Considering the funds they had to work with they sure did it right the last time.

I don't see where we have to move any stands in towards the field or dig down. True, the sideline stands could be closer, but if the track were turfed over, and new stands behind the end zones were brought up close to the field, with our student section, KBS could be as intimidating as Wash-Grizz. The noise generated in the stadium isn't lessened because of the distance our stands are from the sidelines. Any noise that is getting out, is getting out through the hill. Push the hill in toward the South End Zone, or better yet, put some stands up on that end, and we'd have a place as loud as any stadium in America.

I agree with your statement. Our stadium is FBS ready right now. But some people bring up the fact that Georgia Southern is doing this and Georgia Southern is doing that...is irrelevant. Having a presser saying that there is no plans at this time is a waste of time. In my opinion, finding an on campus home for the track & field squad and our soccer teams should take priority. But some people want to play "keep up with the Joneses" and have an immediate ground breaking, like Georgia Southern did while calling all the others complacent.

On a side note, maybe it's an entitlement issue. Some people feel like they have to know everything that goes on within the athletic department, like they are owed something. It's a carry over from the months preceding the FBS announcement and it's carrying over to stadium renovations.

How can you create a time line if you don't know how much money will be available and where it is coming from? Do we have a definitive answer to the question of the level of demand for additional seating? If we have some back to back bad seasons on the field and some unfriendly weather, we just might not need any more seating. Let's pay off the debts and bonds we already have before we try to spend more money we don't have.

It would be like a couple who just moved into a new house they can barely afford and already planning to build another bigger house not knowing of their future employment status.

Wallow in the muck much? Half of you didn't even want to move to FBS. Half the rest didn't want to move to FBS if it meant moving to the Sun Belt. Now seems like people are willing to wallow in complacency instead of asking questions. Once again saying, don't ask questions, because the administration might now know anything. Became pretty evident during the FBS process that they were not attacking the desired goal by doing anything other than patting each other on the backs. Good chance that's still the standard operating procedure. Those of us that are patting ourselves on the back saying what a great stadium we have have to realize that we are competing against a whole different set of stadiums. Our coaches have to recruit against the schools with those stadiums. Some even asking if we have a demand for seats. A demand, really. Any of you that have got a wet rear end sitting on the bank know the answer to that. If you have something worthwhile to say then say it. If not don't try to be cutesy by saying junk. Most of you don't do it too well.

Does this standard apply only to those who respond to you, or might you try it as well?

70 chill out. They put out a strategic report 6 months ago.

There is no timetable at this time, sorry that isn't the answer you want but that is reality.

There have been a hell of a lot more communication failures in the past two years than limited stadium expansion info.

That being said, it would benefit us greatly if they would just release more renderings. Even if the time frame is much farther out than we hope/expect, the hype of seeing with our own eyes the coming expansion on a regular basis would help donations and build excitement for the coming season. I can't imagine it would be too expensive to draw up some plans.

I don't look at it as a colossal failure like the so many other communication issues we've had recently. More of a missed marketing opportunity in the short term.

I think another poster nailed it with the remarks about any possible stadium expansion coming after the Campaign for Appalachian has reached its goal. I think we expected to raise the 200 million dollars a little faster than we currently are.

We're at $157.1 at this point according to the Campaign for Appalachian website.

Why not just go ahead and scoop the $50 Mil athletics allotment? PR? Would Jamie Price and her gaggle of ivory tower "intellectuals" raise hell?

The $200 million is not all "new" money. It includes everything that has been raised over the past few years. There is not going to be $50 million of "new" money for athletics.
