Re: Transfer Portal Watch
Arkansas State losing the POTY
Texas State losing Asberry
Georgia St losing their head coach
Troy losing Sun Belt Freshman OTY
South Alabama TBD with their high number of transfers in and out each year
Top half of the Sun Belt is going to be more wide open than ever before, are we going to be able to take advantage of it (ie retain Lewis + Donovan, add a dynamic player or two through the portal, add another top 250 recruit like Zocko). Or will we settle into just using next year as a developmental year for our young / inexperienced core of guys

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
Did you mean retain Delph & Gregory? I am pretty confident Lewis is graduating and not returning.

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
Omeir originally announced he was returning and a couple of weeks later, he's in the portal. I understand there were a couple of benchwarmers from StAte that jumped in as well.HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 8:37 amSun Belt Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Norchad Omeir is entering the transfer portal. HUGE BOMBSHELL yesterday
Louisiana is also losing Trajen Wesley to the Portal (started 15/30 games for ULL)

Updated to reflect some Sun Belt news
Georgia State just continues to reload. Dwon Odom is a MAJOR pick up in the portal for them as he follows Coach Hayes to Atlanta. Former 4 star top 10 PG in the COUNTRY in the 2020 class.
Coastal has seen 4 guys enter the portal so far, none of major significance, but added one of them to the list.
Patiently waiting for us to announce an impact transfer addition

GaSt lands Brendan Tucker from CofC, another good pick up for them
Jaylon Gibson from NC State committed to Winston Salem State, Jayveous McKinnis (Jackson St) committed to Ole Miss, and Jomaru Brown (EKU) seems to be going to VCU or Pitt so have taken them off the watchlist

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
Carter Whitt Wake -> Furman
Nicholas McMullen Murray St -> UNC Asheville
Trey Bonham VMI -> Florida
removed above names from watch list, looks like I need to replenish the list as it has dwindled down
recent Sun Belt news added:
4 year starter Ebrima Dibba leaving Coastal Carolina
Theo Akwuba leaving Louisiana. 9 ppg 8 rpg 2 bpg, Akwuba would be such a good fit for us as we need frontcourt players, doubt he stays in the Sun Belt though
Marshall landed Kamdyn Curfman from VMI. ELITE shooter, 15.5 ppg and 2.4 apg. Shot 39% from deep while taking 9 three's a game

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
I'm sure our staff is hard at work to land a few gems. I would hope that at least one (preferably 2) of those are at least 6'9" or so with some muscle, and have a year or two of college experience under their belts. Justin Abson looks like he has a soft touch around the basket and can alter shots, but I doubt that the plan is to use him as a starter right away as an 18 year old. His game actually reminds me some of Donte Minter, one of the better bigs we've had, although Minter might have been a little more polished at this stage.
I know it depends on style of play, but I feel like we have more than enough guards/wings on the roster already with at least 3 or 4 spots left to fill. It will be interesting how the staff uses all of these guys in the rotation (Eads, Brown, Harcum, Mantis, Littleton, Ogletree, Delph?)

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
looking forward to seeing him play big minutes, such an explosive athlete. If he can develop a consistent 3 point shot.. watch out sun belt

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
Good pick up for USA, former 4 star recruit and 3 year starter at TCU. The exact kind of player we need to land, a defensive anchor in the post.
Thread updated to reflect:
Samuel to South Alabama (from FGCU/TCU)
Removed Bubba Parham (GT) who went to Samford from the watch list

Re: Transfer Portal Watch
We considered Felton early on. But after a bit of research, decided to look elsewhere. Would not have seen much playing time at App.
