I meant to add at the end of the last post. While I didn't really anticipate a win Saturday I really didn't anticipate getting our butts kicked like a few on here predicted or what many A&M folks expected. I predicted a 3 point win (albeit higher scoring). That being said when I went out Saturday night with my shirt and hat on I really didn't want a "Michigan " reaction. I think one of the players for App even said he was tired of hearing about Michigan and that he wanted it to be about beating A&M. I really got tired of hearing about the close ones we had with P5's. Close doesn't mean anything as we proved Saturday. A close loss doesn't bring Game Day to Boone and a close loss doesn't get talked about all weekend.
As the game went on, an elderly TAM fan kept coming to talk to me (very nice and long time AM fan). He kept noting how we had dominated the game, but could see how quiet and cautiously optimistic I was. I told him I'd sat in many stadiums where a big game was in reach just like this one, and some bad break turned the whole thing around (Dobbs fumble into end zone still burns me up). But I told him A&M just didn't seem to have that X Factor player to put them on their shoulders. I was fully expecting their kicker to hit that tying FG, but believed we could score. I was taken a back by the miss as I wasn't used to App sealing a deal in that fashion. Again, it never felt like a huge upset to me, just a "we should've been winning these every year" feeling. This program is beyond special, and while I have my critiques, I know they are capable of doing anything- I've seen some crazy things over the last few decades. Go App.

While we certainly deserve attention does anyone feel like ESPN has crowned us this years Coastal?

In both games we took advantage of aging coaches whose schemes were outdated. In the UM game we looked almost frantic at times, like a little kid getting into his first fight with a big kid. Almost controlled chaos. Against aTm we looked relaxed and focused. You could tell that our players knew from the opening kickoff that they belonged on that field and could win that game.
This win felt different. I feel like we just turned the page on all of the close losses. We’re here to stay.

Yup. They need the underdog story and we fit this years bill.

Deservedly, unlike Covid Carolina’s 15 minutes. We’re here to stay.

We are definitely the feel good story "of the week". A loss anywhere down the road and they move on to Wake or some other tiny school. Guess that's just how it works. For me the worst part of the listing of ranked teams that we beat or almost beat included the "huge win" over highly ranked CCU. While that was a great game and great conference win I really struggle adding it to the list. They were playing well and had a good run but no way were they a legit top 15 team.

Jimbo is only 56. That’s not “aging.” His scheme is outdated and he needs to update it but he’s not old or past his prime, just stubborn.

I think they’re looking now to set up the App-Marshall game, in hopes of running the storyline through the entire season. If we’re both still rolling on Nov 12, then that game is going to be hyped a massive amount (as much as they will hype a G5 game, anyway).

In 2007 we had a smaller roster, starters regularly played on special teams if I recall and while we had some really good players and track speed (and a decent QB) we still didn't have the depth. If we had been down our number one back we didn't have 3 more (including a 225er and another 200ish D1 transfer) to roll out there. Had we lost a linebacker or 2 we didn't really have 2 plug and play guys. We had to play out of our minds and hold on at the end. Didn't matter we won. This past Saturday we were probably waiting for the inevitable but conversely we seemed completely in control all day. It was if Clark said we are gonna run on you and control the clock- and we did it.

Michigan was significantly bigger, and it changed college football in some ways.

 Holy crap, you’re right! I Googled it because I thought you must be off by a decade. I’m stunned. I would’ve sworn he was closer to 70 than 60. Thank you for the correction. Still, WOW!

We are who we thought we were, the rest of the CFB world is just catching up.

If they want to crown us, then crown our ass.

Texas A&M was dissed and ditched by a 5-star RB recruit after Appalachian State loss:

This guy is a Louisville commit...so you're welcome Satt!

A lot of quit in that guy. TA&M will likely come out ahead on that one.

The guy was already committed to Louisville, he was just taking an extra trip to A&M. We did Satt a favor (although I’d bet the kid goes elsewhere when the inevitable happens in Kentucky).
