No way our kids aren't ready for this game. We don't overlook good teams, we overlook bad teams and nobody in our program is foolish enough to think that Coastal is a bad team. I look for our best all around performance tonight. All our skill players will shine and our defense will do enough to get us the win. I expect big nights from Chase, Stroman, Cam to name just a few. I have a feeling that this will be a dominant game where we leave no doubt who the best in the Sun Belt really is. Can't wait for game time.

... is an FCS team in their first year transitioning to FBS. They aren't eligible for a bowl or the Sun Belt championship. The game literally didn't matter except for bowl eligibility purposes. Those are all reasons to overlook JMU, and those reasons don't apply to Coastal. App also dominated JMU for the first half of that game, let of the gas, and got embarrassed in the second half.

Please. Not an FCS team or they would not be in our conference. It doesn't matter what they are eligible for. Yes it DID matter for OUR bowl eligibility. It does not matter what part of the game you dominate if you lose it. I think it is a fact that they were a good team and we may have overlooked them.

That's... sort of my point? They ARE a good team, but we overlooked them because it was early in the season, and there are a lot of reason to think they might not be very good. As nothing more than a fan, I certainly overlooked them. I figured it wouldn't even be close. I was wrong.

Which of those ULL games or WKU was App overlooking? I watched every single one of them and saw an App team play hard, give their all, and just get beat.

I agree with you. I never get how some random guy (a fan) comes to make some blanket statement about the mindset or approach that an entire team took toward an opponent. If we lose to a team like JMU we "took them too lightly" or overlooked them, looked past them, or whatever else they come up with.

Contain mccall, don’t let him beat you with his legs. Wish we could spy him but doublin isn’t fast enough. Bring the pressure all night boys but don’t leave corners in an island, have help over the top!!

On offense, pound the rock and get our guys the ball in open space. bubble, tunnel screens, jet sweeps. play action drags and bombs. speed kills!

I fully expect Coastal to fully expect us to run Cam (or whoever is back there) to the right guard or left guard on our first two plays. They will jam 8 men in the box and will be firing off the ball to stop us and force a 3rd and 9.5 to go. Then they will play for a 3 yard pass to our back or a tight end. How about instead of that very predictable play call we go play action and hit Pearson down the seam for 15 yards?!

Then maybe go a little RPO and even let Chase rumble 5 yards? He isn't fast but can get those yards. Get them to spread out and respect some medium throws.

How about a change of pace drive in the second or third quarter, where we insert Berger for one series and he makes them defend all 11. A little Chicken Soup for the Soul from the local boy.

Would love to see this happen.
