We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. It didn't matter last night which back we had in. They loaded the box and dared us to beat them throwing.Howard Street Hooligan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:29 amagreed. chuck it around BUT it's hard to really establish a great running game when your rotating backs like we do. There's no need for it.

To me, it's pathetic that we have a couple on here who were happy we lost so they could continue their crusade against stupid coaches and players who don't have any heart -

And I find it quite hypocritical that a couple of the same people complain constantly about how the coaches can't recruit and are not getting the job done --- while just in the last weeks have praised our Freshman QB and our Freshman RB and our RS Freshman WR ---

I don’t think anyone here is happy we lost, but I do think some are happy to feel like their opinions of the coaching staff are (continually) vindicated.

One reason I think our coaching has to get better is that a player like Stroman should get the ball 7-10 times a game, not 2. I also think Robinson, Wells, Horn, and Davis need to get more touches. We should have thrown the ball more because these guys can eat if you let them.

Re: Gameday!!!
The fighting between posters is counterproductive.
We aren’t going to fire Clark before December 2023.
We are likely to see changes at the position coach level.
My plan would be:
We need to spend money on a stud DC and let Jones coach LBs as long as he wants, he is a great position coach.
Then we need to let Barbay call the plays. It’s a clear assumption on my part, but last night that did not happen at critical moments.
Punt the damn ball on 4th on our side of the field.

Re: Gameday!!!
Problem with Stroman is he's still learning how to block. He's really only going in on pure pass plays because his blocking is subpar. But, he's also staying after practice every day to get better at it. He is going to be really good.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:59 amOne reason I think our coaching has to get better is that a player like Stroman should get the ball 7-10 times a game, not 2. There's a reason Clark said he has a chance to be the best player to ever wear black and gold.

Re: Gameday!!!
Well, the better blockers didn’t really make a difference last night because they ran everything up the middle. It only matters if you are going to do outside runs or screens and we only did about 5 of those last night.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 11:02 amProblem with Stroman is he's still learning how to block. Re: Gameday!!!
You don't realize the outside zone is set up with an inside zone look, right? You make the defense think it's inside and kick it out. Cam is a master at it. Problem is, the o line got beat so bad RBs never had a chance to cut it outside so it always looked like an inside zone play.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 11:05 amWell, the better blockers didn’t really make a difference last night because they ran everything up the middle. Re: Gameday!!!
This I completely agree with. Receivers need to be able to block- if you actually run plays their way. Maybe I'm missing something but if you spread out 3 of your 11 guys on offense then run 90% between the tackles those guys are simply occupying 3 defenders. That leaves the other 8 basically in the box. Nowhere to run and blocking by the 3 is not needed.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 11:05 amWell, the better blockers didn’t really make a difference last night because they ran everything up the middle. It's great to want to establish the run but when it's not working and the other teams secondary is trash, uh throw the ball!

Re: Gameday!!!
I 100% get that from a coaches standpoint. I feel like there are points where you just want to go BOB, as Clark would say, and give a guy like him chances to make big plays. He, 20, Wells, Horn, Davis, etc all can make big plays. I fee like Stroman should have at least 5 catches and 100 yards every game. He can do it.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 11:02 amProblem with Stroman is he's still learning how to block. He's really only going in on pure pass plays because his blocking is subpar. I could see him being one of the best we ever had for sure. I just hope he does not enter the portal and go P5 because I'm pretty sure he would get several offers.

Re: Gameday!!!
I'm a bit tired of the "our offensive scheme is so intricate" stuff that prevents raw talent from having a chance to win the game because the former OL player who coached OL wants to establish the run.
