Yeah the “mandated” 6 win rule is only kinda true. Hell, the North Texas team we beat in a bowl game had 4 wins but got in due to filing for a waiver in the COVID year.

That would be pitiful and only happens because there are too many bowls. In addition it would be covered all during the game " Well Joe things have really gone down hill for these appys, the once proud program needed 2 weak FCS programs to get here". " Yes Bill you have to wonder if they can ever regain respectability in a conference that has passed them by".GSUwasGump’sFallbackSchool wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 9:27 amIt’s possible to get a bowl with 6 even with 2 FCS wins. Re: Up Next...Marshall
Absolutely a overwhelming sorrowful time in the state of West Virginia. On an overall level as well as personal level. My high school coach Jim Moss who had played at WVU and was the OC for The Herd and although he wasn't a personal friend, Dennis Blevins, from Bluefield. He went to Park Central, the all-black high school, but in a small town we had played against each other many times. If he had chosen to go Bluefield HS - which was somewhat integrated - like some of the other African-American athletes, he would have been recognized as maybe the best athlete in the State.

You were spot on until the end. ESPN loves Boone and App. They would say something like "Every team has down years, but when you look at their rich tradition, you know they will be back on top soon."bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 11:24 amThat would be pitiful and only happens because there are too many bowls. Re: Up Next...Marshall
We are going to have to disagree on that one. ESPN only loves us or anyone else when we supply eyeballs. It certainly is not us, it is delivering fans. If the eyeballs decline we become a past memory. A team that needed two FCS teams one of which should really be Div 3 to get there, is not going to be a very big draw.MrCraig wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:39 pmYou were spot on until the end. So this is two weeks in a row where they didn't show the side of the helmet in a *checks notes* uniform reveal video.

That’s fair, I just don’t think our shine has worn off as much in the eyes of the general sports watching public as it has in ours. I’ve had numerous folks tell me they didn’t know App had lost a single game until we lost to Coastal.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 3:55 pmWe are going to have to disagree on that one. Yellow/white/white is my least favorite combination, and the helmet stripes are bad luck. App loses by 14 or more.

I may be one of the most superstitious people on the planet but helmet stripes have nothing to do with good or bad MOJO. I guess I'm old school as well, kind of like the stripes

Re: Up Next...Marshall
UNC- L with a great offensive performance- no helmet stripes
Texas A&M- W- no helmet stripes
Troy- W on a hail mary- helmet stripes
JMU- L- helmet stripes
Citadel- W- no helmet stripes
Texas State- L- helmet stripes
Georgia State- W- helmet stripes
Robert Morris- W- no helmet stripes
Coastal Carolina- L- helmet stripes
As you can see, our most "complete" team performances have come when we do not wear helmet stripes.

I guess that also means they don't pay much attention to us already. I am not trying to argue. I just see how quickly you can lose relevance in the eyes of the media. If we do get to a bowl we damn well better win it and win it big.MrCraig wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 7:30 pmThat’s fair, I just don’t think our shine has worn off as much in the eyes of the general sports watching public as it has in ours. No to helmet stripes. I wonder how we performed with white helmets and stripes versus yellow helmet with stripes. Could be a uniform changing analysis
