Re: 2 more changes
No longer listed on app state football as coaches so seems to be confirmed. Good and expected moves. I am happy that our leadership can identify the problems - they have for most of the season - and are doing what they can to correct them. Hopefully we bring in people with experience of recruiting, development and success.

Re: 2 more changes
Nunn has 19 years of NFL coaching experience. This move is probably less about on the field performance.

Re: 2 more changes
It was worded as contract will not be renewed, are you saying that he wanted too much money?

Re: 2 more changes
I know nothing about it. But if I’m 65 and spent most of my career in the NFL, I probably don’t want to put in the recruiting time required of a typical college position coach. I also probably don’t want to have to motivate my players.
I’m guessing the next hire will be younger and someone who has a lot of fire in the belly.

I disagree. I believe it is about on-field performance and development. Our DL showed no signs of improvement through the season.

Re: 2 more changes
I would think nunn, being an nfl guy, isn’t exactly what we need. He’s more technique, which was great for meech , etc but not for the younger guys. I would think we need more player development vs fine tuning.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 10:15 amI disagree. I believe it is about on-field performance and development. Re: 2 more changes
It’s hard to know the truth. It sounds as if the phrase of the day is “will not be renewed” which creates speculation. I know that he needs one more year of NFL experience to get full pension. I had heard that he is good friends with Dale. Clark wants a recruiter and maybe he wasn’t. Clark has been given the resources to compete so doubtful, but possible. Bottom line, who knows why.

Re: 2 more changes
I still don’t understand if the rumors of Clark coaching the OL for the balance of the season are true that we’re not in the market for an OL coach. That would seem like the 2nd most important gap after DC.
Don’t know much about coaching DL but I thought S&C would get a change given our injuries this year

Right. OL looked noticeably worse this season, and if your HC is having to work double to sure up those issues, then why are we keeping GW around?BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 10:54 amI still don’t understand if the rumors of Clark coaching the OL for the balance of the season are true that we’re not in the market for an OL coach. Re: 2 more changes
I can't believe that anyone here would actually suggest that Nunn's coaching was an issue this year. Sure, our DL could not get pressure on any passing plays the entire season, but does anyone really think that was because Nunn couldn't coach them? Doesn't it make much more sense that the kids just didn't have the ability? I mean this guy coached in the NFL for 19 years and has a Super Bowl ring on his hand (not really sure if he wears it or not so it may not actually be on his hand). Not to mention what he did for Meech, that guy is on an NFL roster because of the coaching he received from Nunn and the hard work that Meech was willing to do to implement what Nunn taught him. Anyone who thinks our DL issues were because of Nunn versus the inability of our players is just not seeing reality. You can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink. Nunn is a big loss for us.
That being said, I think changing course on our strength and conditioning coach was a good call. We got pushed around all season and that starts with our off season strength and conditioning. No issue with moving on from him.

My personal opinion is that it wouldn’t surprise me to see Dawsey leave for College Station. That would suck, but understandable.appstate24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:05 pmOther than these 3, are we expecting more shake-up?

I think someone else nailed it. He absolutely knows football. Does he know how to coach college kids?t4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:08 pmI can't believe that anyone here would actually suggest that Nunn's coaching was an issue this year. Re: 2 more changes
We better seem something on the offensive side of the ball as I think that was our bigger problem this past year. Our OL was bad despite returning 4 all conference caliber players, we couldn't run consistently despite having a legion of very quality RBs, play calling was inconsistent and at times downright bad, the repeated runs up the middle on short yardage despite the fact we didn't convert, etc. Yeah, our team struggled a lot and I know the defense was any easy target but our offense fared worse in my opinion considering what we had to work with. I hope there are some changes on that side of the ball.appstate24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:05 pmOther than these 3, are we expecting more shake-up?

Re: 2 more changes
Look at our d lines the past 2 season and tell me what you think. We always stopped the run (including this year) and we put pressure on the qb in passing situations and we sent a guy to the league. Yeah, I'd say he was just fine at coaching college kids.yosef69 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:15 pmI think someone else nailed it. He absolutely knows football. I can’t remember a single game this year where we consistently got pressure and that’s with an nfl quality edge rushert4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:18 pmLook at our d lines the past 2 season and tell me what you think.
