We are getting embarrassed for sure. Anyone still want that bet that we will score 35 on Georgia.APPSTATE-H3 wrote:I love Coach Satt. But for the love of App. Someone fire Cobb.

Re: Moore fired for this!
With chuck south beating el cid I expect us to lose the only game I make it to this year.
Re: Moore fired for this!
We'll be fine.
I just don't understand why we don't recruit beef up front if we want to continue to run the ball.
We are always the smaller team on the line of scrimmage in the big games.
Somethings up with Jackson. He overthrew tons last year and looks lost tonight.

Re: Moore fired for this!
Our last two losses Illinois State and Montana have come from both lines being outmanned.APPSTATE-H3 wrote:I love Coach Satt. But for the love of App. Someone fire Cobb.
Got to have some players to block and tackle
This is not Cobb's fault. He ran out of eligibility a while back. He'd be an improvement on our line if he could still play
The weak recruiting in the offensive and defensive lines and coaching since Elliot and Satterfield left years ago, is showing it's ugly head. Our lines are too small.
Damned if #14 Cox doesn't remind me of AE, but we'll needs some players that can block.
BLACK SATURDAY
Re: Moore fired for this!
And so the Satterfield era begins. This is the worst App team I've seen in years.

We averaged 4.7 yards a carry. I don'tt understand why everyone wants to rail on the line. I don't have the answers as to what happened last night, but one game against a quality opponent on their turf is no reason to call for jobs and question the leadership. We are playing a lame duck season and it is possible that some of our seniors may play less than inspired football. These are 19 to 22 year old kids that don't look at situations the same way as us older more experienced fans.

Re: Moore fired for this!
Good point. Pass protection was the bigger problem...and inside the red zone. I think the OL is definitely better than it was two years ago. The issues there are fixable. Last night was more about execution and mistakes. JLJ was out of synch. I have tremendous respect for him, and I don't know what the issue was. Maybe it was injury related (either the knee or the shot that he took during the game). Maybe it was just a bad night for him. I was actually very encouraged by how KB played when he came in.AppSt94 wrote:We averaged 4.7 yards a carry. I don'tt understand why everyone wants to rail on the line. I thought the RB's looked decent. I just think we need to figure out when to switch. There were plenty of things to point at last night but I'm not ready to write anything off. I'll be there next week and I expect to see a much more focused team.
Re: Moore fired for this!
The one good run Jackson had he was hit high and low, and landed hard on his non throwing hand and came down face first and he then slid for about 5 feet. After that hit he didn't seem right. Almost as if he was in a fog. But I still am wondering where were the wheel routes, the counters, the misdirections, the options, the draws. I saw again read run plays. And plays route specific. Very disappointing. Time will tell. But last night was a disaster from the time Jackson got leveled. I still believe this team is going to really struggle this year. I hope I'm wrong. But after this game it's hard to think the play calling will change.

It's hard to read this site right now. I am ashamed and disgusted at the pathetic attitude coming from my fellow App "fans". Some of you sound like a bunch of spoiled, whiny idiots.
IT'S ONE GAME!! It's the first game of the season. Our QB is coming off major surgery. Our best player was suspended with very little notice or prep time. We have a new head coach. We have a new DC. We lost a lot off of last years team. We are one of the youngest teams around. We were playing at perhaps the most difficult place in FCS, against one of the all time great programs!
Moore fired for this? Because Moore didn't just lose to a worse team then this, with a much more talented App team then this, at home, by a larger margin? Oh that's right, the Citadel game last year.
Get a clue. I don't know if Satterfield is the answer or not, but I have faith that he is. You can't judge a guy after one game, I don't care if we lost by 50 or won by 100.

Re: Moore fired for this!
In the first half of the game, we spent a huge chunk of our time backed up in our own territory. That isn't exactly a great scenario for wheel routes. I thought the play calling improved in the second half. Satterfield even commented on the play calling being poor in the first half. There was a nice play where Washington took a hand off on an end run.App90 wrote:The one good run Jackson had he was hit high and low, and landed hard on his non throwing hand and came down face first and he then slid for about 5 feet. So you don't see any reason to expect play calling to improve? After one game? Do you always project things out to their worst possible conclusion, or is it just with football? I have no crystal ball, but I think this season is far from a lost cause.

Re: Moore fired for this!
Short memories. App has played some real stinkers (extremely unprepared) under JM the last few years that were just as bad or worse than last night's Montana game.happyappy84 wrote:Lol. I expected it to be bad but I think this is a new low.
2006 - NC State
2007 - Wofford
2008 - LSU, Richmond
2009 - ECU, McNeese
2010 - Villanova
2011 - Virginia Tech, Maine
2012 - ECU, The Citadel
It's already been stated over and over, but the team is young. Montana was good. Way too early to make any kind of of informed decision on the Satterfield era.

Re: Moore fired for this!
In one of the most important games of the season. I expected ASU to open the play book and yes run wheel routes any where on the field. Run crossing pattern plays, run more screens, run options to the flats, run mis direction and counter plays. Same plays Coach Satterfield ran at his last job. Is the season over of course not. But why was the play calling so conservative. And what would make me think it would change after last night. If you have some in sight let me know. But if you like what u saw yesterday so be it. But the play calling was extremely disappointing. So much so I'm wondering exactly how is it going to improve at this point. Is the season over no. The only thing I can think of is maybe the crowd noise was a factor. But who knows.

Re: Moore fired for this!
This game reminded me, in more ways than one, of the 2006 NCSU game. A lot of unknowns going into that season, just like this one. I don't know why, but it just did. I think the 2013 Apps will grow and mature, and will finish the season strong. Will we beat UGa? No, not much of a chance there. But the rest of the season is doable, provided the team doesn't give up too soon. The next few games will be the most important of Satterfield's career. He will either keep the team, or lose them.RankinApp wrote:Short memories. Re: Moore fired for this!
Of course, that season turned when AE took over as QB. I was really concerned about JLJ's play last night. He looked tentative and panicky. I realize he is recovering from major knee surgery just 8 months ago. I'm not being critical of him, it is understandable. But, I worry that he is just not ready to be under the gun yet. On the radio broadcast last night, Steve Brown made the comment that JLJ just didn't look comfortable and was wary of his fundamentals. He actually stated that he saw the same in the final scrimmage two weeks ago. I certainly trust the coaches to have a better feel than someone has seen the team once so far this year. But, it did seem that Bryant was more poised and certainly more mobile last night. We saw what Bryant can bring to table with his ability to run. Of course, we also got his two turnovers.BeauFoster wrote:This game reminded me, in more ways than one, of the 2006 NCSU game. A lot of unknowns going into that season, just like this one. Going to be an interesting aspect of the team to watch develop.

Re: Moore fired for this!
Bryant looked good in a lot of ways. The interception was that he was locked in on the receiver and the safety over the top just read him. The fumble was a good pop. Many people would've fumbled that.
His biggest issue was reading the end on option plays. He always handed off and it got predictable, especially on the goal line stand. He's got a lot of zip on his throws, though. The future's bright with him I think
