As far as flights, Denver and Laramie are fine. There are several United connector flights daily between Laramie and Denver so if it's not going to cost much more, fly into Laramie. The airport is tiny as you'd expect, but very nice.
If you do fly into Denver, I'd highly suggest diverting through Fort Collins (25->287) or at least taking 25 until Cheyenne and then hoping on Happy Jack Rd to come up to Laramie. Both of these routes are pretty much the same time as taking 25->80 but way prettier.

Wife and I plan to spend several days seeing the area. Flying into Denver and spending a couple of days in Rocky Mountain National Park before heading over to Laramie. We’ll check out Cheyenne and since I love US history, maybe a side trip to see the Guernsey Ruts. This is where you can see the ruts left by the wagons following the Oregon Trail. Should be a fun trip and hopefully we get a football victory too.

Fort Collins Marriott is a super nice hotel! Only roughly 1 hour from Laramie. Good selection if accurate. Signed up for the MAF Town Hall but never got email, even in spam or junk folders with log in information.

CLT to Denver on Friday. Returning on the 28th. American Airlines. Plan to see a lot of Colorado including 4 National Parks.
