You have freedom of speech too. Go for it!!!!!!!!!!AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:44 amSo, he can have and voice his opinion and I can’t? Nope. And it doesn't matter to him what we or anyone else says or thinks. If he thinks it's cool to do what he does and buddy up with Mack Brown and Roy Williams then so be it. He isn't going to change. His loss. Plus, we have Luke Combs who is a WAAAAAAAY bigger deal.
1-0 this week. Beat Wyoming!
I will boo and scream to the top of my lungs. It won’t affect him one bit, but I’ll feel better about it.

The dictionary definition of alumni is, "a graduate or former student of a particular school, college, or university."ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 11:27 amNeither did Luke Combsappgrad2010 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:33 amIt is funny the media guide lists him as an alum....I did not think he ever earned his degree?
Therefore, one need not have graduated to be considered an alum.
Coming from a loud, proud Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute alum.

Re: Let's beat a dead horse
I have seen Eric several times eating dinner at a Club in Banner Elk. I'm also pretty sure I saw him pull into his driveway over the Labor Day holiday. He's always been unassuming and people left him alone. Not sure if they didn't recognize him, or just didn't care.
I grew up a UNC fan (didn't have the grades to get in) but I attended and graduated from App. I was a big UNU fan and and would cheer for them against anyone but App. I can see where he would be a UNC basketball fan, but to cheer for UNC over App (in any sport) is crazy talk. I've always said a win for App vs UNC is way more impactful that a loss for UNC vs App.
PS I'm not going to disclose the club or the car he was in, that's weird and creepy.

I bet he puts ketchup on his hot dogs and prefers Texas “barbecue”. Probably drinks unsweet tea.

Re: Let's beat a dead horse
Honestly, this has to be the silliest thing we discuss. Going to Appalachian doesn't require you to be an App fan. He is friends with Mack. I think they have homes close to each other at Elk River. He is a Carolina fan. So what? How on Earth can anyone spend this much time being angry as someone who doesn't pull for your team? Eric Church has absolutely no impact on how well our team plays. And he is an actual supporter (financially) of the University. The man is free to be a Carolina fan. I am free to be an App fan. PLEASE let this go.

If they ever announced a large gift with his name attached to it, many would still complain. I am not a big EC guy due to his UNC love fest....but still appreciate his tunes and what not.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 12:25 pmHonestly, this has to be the silliest thing we discuss. He supports us financially, I hate it that he is a Tar Heel but won’t actively give him shit since he more than likely contributes a significant amount.

Combs didn't graduate. He dropped out with about a semester left (maybe a little more) and jokes about it in interviews. Church did graduate with a degree in Marketing.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 11:27 amNeither did Luke Combsappgrad2010 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:33 amIt is funny the media guide lists him as an alum....I did not think he ever earned his degree?

Alumna/us status is conferred not upon graduation but taking a class(es). The moment a student steps iton the first class of their first semester they can say they are an alumna/us.appgrad2010 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:33 amIt is funny the media guide lists him as an alum....I did not think he ever earned his degree?
With that said we ought to take him out of the media guide, unless he really is giving a lot of money and is specifically requesting that as part of the tranfser of funds.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

So by that definition, you have a ton of formal UNC athletes that are not UNC alumniMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 3:25 pmAlumna/us status is conferred not upon graduation but taking a class(es).
