And ODU
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Can we fix this
Winning the the East from here is very simple. JMU is ineligible. So we win out and go 4-2. That puts us ahead of the Georgias and Marshall. Coastal and ODU need to each loose 2 more games. They play each other so. Absolutely there's a chance. It would take some work. But there's a chance. Of course one more conference loss and we're done.

All of our goals are in front of us. As long as we get a lot of help from other teams and turn things around 180 degrees ourselves. Should not even be in this position.

Recruiting has vastly improved vs ten years ago.....but with our success and our brand recognition we should be getting even better recruits than we are currently getting. We should be top 50 Recruiting in the nation and we are NOT.....not even close!
KICK ASS!!!

Texas A&M gets the best recruits in the nation and could not beat Appalachian State with Shawn Clark as the coach.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 9:34 pmRecruiting has vastly improved vs ten years ago.....but with our success and our brand recognition we should be getting even better recruits than we are currently getting. Saterfield could not beat any ranked team at App and Drinkwitz could not even beat Georgia Southern.
Shawn Clark has beaten two ranked teams in his tenure so far...
That should tell you something. (But nothing you want to hear.)

Re: Can we fix this
What does the 2007 Southern conf. champ. have to do with us somehow winning the conf. championship game this year in the Sunbelt? We already have two conf. losses and are highly likely to lose 3-4 of the last five. I am as diehard a fan as they come but I am not wearing rose colored glasses like some on here.njcarr wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 1:39 pmI haven't checked details on other school records & schedules yet. Are we mathematically out of the championship game. If I remember correctly, there were 2 conference losses after the Michigan game and still went on to win.
I have not given up on us yet. Take away some errors, player injuries, and lack of execution on a few plays - it would be a different feeling for the "fickle fans" that claim to be "supporters. I am a "die-hard fan" and will be in attendance for games as long as I am able. The remainder of the season, as well as 2024 could be a completely different scenario than the last few weeks.
I read several of these posts and will not let the negative ones influence me on how I support a team and coaches that I believe are good.
Go APPS (ASU)!!!!!!!

Re: Can we fix this
What do recruiting rankings have to do with anything? Hasn't that aspect been beaten absolutely to death? We generally get (and will probably always get) mostly a little undersized kids. We always get a few who grow some or simply outwork the rest. Outside of the big boys what difference does a 50th versus 70th ranked recruiting class mean? Who is absolutely breaking down thousands of high school players, especially the ones who will likely land at mid to smaller schools? You need to look at how recruits are playing 2-4 years after signing. Have the guys recruited under Clark played well? Have they stayed? What is the difference in a guy rated at 3.0 versus 3.45689? Seems pretty subjective if you ask me.

Re: Can we fix this
Old man question- what the hell is our brand recognition? I see that pop up all the time. Outside of App Nation are we really that relevant in the Midwest and beyond?

As far as recruiting, maybe we need to drop in recruiting rankings and get guys who want to work harder. That is what built our program.

Re: Can we fix this
App State may not be "relevant" to other regions of the country, but people know who/what App State is. General sports fans know App beat Michigan and Texas A&M. College football fans know App had an incredibly successful transition to FBS. App was relevant and important enough for College Gameday to come to Boone. That's the brand recognition. Kids in Kansas aren't buying App State gear or whatever; there are very few, if any, Walmart App State fans. However, App isn't completely irrelevant. App is far more prominent in the public eye than say Southeast Missouri State or UTEP or Akron.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 7:57 amOld man question- what the hell is our brand recognition? Re: Can we fix this
Ha yeah somewhat. Nobody wants to drop in rankings, but there is something unique about the guys who were an inch short, but faster like John Law. Or some TEs that weren’t ranked that we stacked weight on and created monster lineman. Or all of the HS QBs that moved to WR or DB like Coco Hillary. We just seemed to identify folks who were special and weren’t recognized by rating agency’s due to some metric.yosef69 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 8:39 amOh lord.
