The jokes about so few people in the stands are great, but the reality is almost funnier. There weren't any Southern alumni at the game because they are all taking off work Friday to go down to Jacksonville for the Florida-Georgia game. No exaggeration, I saw 5 people on my Facebook who graduated from Georgia Southern posting pictures of themselves at the beach or heading to Jacksonville.
Y'all think the App football-UNC basketball fan is awful? It's nothing compared to the Southern alumni- UGA fan

Think about this- Georgia Southern has an enrollment roughly 2,000 students above App State, yet they barely topped 19k for a night game against a rival. So, App may lose on the field in November, but we will win in the stands.
Agree to disagree.
Yep, APP certainly has the closet Hole Fans

I'm not saying they don't. I'm saying the problem is even worse at GASO. App folks may pick UNC to root for in basketball, but most that I know still pick App in football. That's not the case for many of those from Statesboro.

This is where we are at, claiming victory on attendance numbers.
Should we not? Obviously, I wish our win-loss record was a lot better, but we can still brag about our fan base being better than Stink's.

I lived in Georgia for 6 years. It's all about the Bulldogs. Folks could care less down there about other state programs

There was heavy talk about Georgia State hosting College GameDay next week at home versus JMU if they won, as it would be 7-1 vs 8-0 if JMU beats ODU on Saturday. The JMU/GSU game was selected for 3:30 p.m. on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Once again, Georgia Southern ruins things.
Not saying you're wrong, or questioning your sources, but given the fact LSU and Alabama are off this week so can't lose, and match up next week in Tuscaloosa, it be hard for me to see them picking Georgia State over Tuscaloosa.

However, looking at the entire CFB schedule the week JMU hosts App, I could see them possibly visiting Harrisonburg that weekend.

We don't have a team like Georgia to contend with in our state, and we have a lot that hold season tickets to work in with their getaway vacations in the area. It's not all school/alumni driven. This just makes fans look 2nd rate that gloat about this.

We should brag about this to our rivals. We should advertise our avid fan support 24/7 on social media. We should do this without question. It is good for the school and good for the program.
Yes, we all want a winning product on the field.....when we do, we should shout that out from mountaintop as well.

Liberty has played in front of empty seats at home twice this year, still undefeated.

Georgia Southern just played in front of empty seats at home, became bowl eligible.

App State plays in front of a large crowd, loses with the game winning field goal kicked towards the packed hill.

At this point I know Georgia Southern and Liberty will have more fans at a bowl game than App will. Attendance comparisons are played out in my opinion.

Not sure if anyone still watching. GaSo just threw 76 yd touchdown pass. The most impressive part was the receiver held on to the ball with both hands tight when defense got close. Im more impressed with that than the pass.
Fundamentals are overrated.
Probably caught the ball with his hands 😤

Cignetti is 62. Could see him riding JMU into his sunset, whenever that may be.

We can beat both of those teams, and I expect us to do just that.
I can’t get to expecting it, but when I was watching last night I did have the thought that I don’t think either of those teams looked definitively better than App. I think the way in which App wins Saturday (knock on wood) will tell us where this years team is headed from here. I do believe there’s a world where App finally gets right this weekend and then runs the table.

He knows what he's doing. Can't wait to give them their first loss in a few weeks.

If they go undefeated or even with 1 loss he will have offers thrown his way that he might not be able to refuse. He'll start losing assistants and position coaches by December, and with a new AD incoming he might be uncertain with his feelings towards that change.

I don't know him at all, and say these things only based off of the college sports coaching changes landscape. Also living locally, I've never really got the vibes he was all about JMU. Great great guy and head coach who loves his players from those I know that know him, but just never got the he's content with Harrisonburg forever vibes.

He might have a crack at a Shawn Clark moment if WVU has another mediocre season and moves on from Neal Brown.
