Game Balls: Southern Miss

The Golden Eagles smelled blood in the water, and for a little while had us on the ropes, but App gutted out a win. For the first time in what seems like months, it’s time to hand out some game balls.

Joey Aguilar: 23-33-1 391 yards and four touchdowns. If you throw in volume, you’re gonna throw one to the other team. The defense stepped up and allowed just three on the short field.

Hot take: Joey Aguilar is the most exciting App QB since Armanti Edwards. (Note I said “exciting,” not best or most accurate, but fun to watch)

I also think the whole WR core, Amani Marshall, and Kanye Roberts deserve their flowers.

Play of the game was Sullivans hit on the QB which forced a fumble on the 1 yd. line.
Not sure what his former position was but he moved to that OLB/DE spot on the left side this game for first time. He deserves a game ball for that hit alone.

And Joey didn’t play his best game…too long in the pocket several times, missed a couple deep passes and hesitated to run on several others. Don’t get me wrong he played a great game but there was plenty to clean up. I’ll take it though!
