11 blocks and 13 offensive rebounds in the first half.
59-19.
I don’t think we should play these games other than exhibitions.

Based on the 1st half score I might need to make one of my graphs again.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

I get why coach schedules these glorified scrimmage games before exams and a long break but you could divide our team and play a real scrimmage and get more out of it. At least schedule Lenoir Rhyne or someone more competitive.

I was surprised to see this. Central Penn is about an hour away from where I grew up. It used to be a two-year school trade school. They must’ve just changed over to four years. If you take a look at their schedule they play branch campuses of Penn State, community colleges, and trade schools. Not sure why App would schedule a team like this.

It’s simply an in-season exhibition game that actually counts on our record. We’ve done it the last several years. Carlow, Boyce, etc. Mostly right before of during exams.

App had 16 blocks versus 10 made FG's for CP. Regardless of the matchup how often does that happen? Is 80 rebounds a record for App State basketball? Greene got every ounce of his starting opportunity including fouling out!

It's probably just as much for the other team as it is for App. Despite App's usually smaller crowds, they are probably bigger than Central Penn's, so they take away some money from it. Plus the Central Penn players get to travel to Boone and play against some tougher competition to prepare for their season.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 6:21 amI was surprised to see this. I went to a junior college before transferring to App, and their basketball team always has an early game in the season against a D1 school in Georgia like Kennesaw State or Mercer. They usually get blown out, but it's good experience.

Re: MBB vs Central Penn, Tues 12/5 8pm
If you want more people to come support the team:
1) Have a good team that plays hard and is competitive (looks like that is covered)
2) Don't play teams like Central Penn. If we can get Auburn to come to Boone, then getting some good mid-major opponents for a home/home series shouldn't be an issue. Playing teams like Davidson, College of Charleston, Richmond, etc should be an option.
thoughts??

I completely agree, but you have to get those teams to agree to come play you. Also, while basketball schedules aren't scheduled as far ahead as football, they are scheduled well ahead of time. So even if App scheduled Davidson, UNC-A, Charleston, etc. those games wouldn't be played for 2-3 years.asumba95 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 8:01 amIf you want more people to come support the team:

Auburn and other top level teams have the resources such as chartered flights, etc. I assume to make a trip like this workable..Most, if not all, mid majors are flying commercial. If they fly into Gboro or Charlotte, they then have a 2 hour drive to Boone. I would think this is an impediment to teams outside of NC unless close like etsu...as well as the EasyUs and UNCWs of the world on the East Coast of NCMrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 8:13 amI completely agree, but you have to get those teams to agree to come play you. I am not sure we are able to schedule the same teams every year from say Raleigh West to come to Boone. There would have to be home and homes... and 4 of those teams are not traveling to Boone...I would think we would have to fork out some decent amount of money to get teams like Butler, VCU, etc. to travel to Boone. Not sure we have funds in the budget to do that.
