Is this the same Salem school that was Andrew Glass?
It was Andrew Lewis...played for the state championship game v. T.C. Williams of "Remember the Titans" fame. The movie had them playing someone else but it was Andrew Lewis they played in Roanoke's old Victory Stadium. Williams won 27-0 before 18,000.
When the city of Salem built a new high school, they named it Salem HS. Andrew Lewis is now a middle school.
E.C. Glass is the high school in Lynchburg.

Thanks - my mistake - I remembered the Andrew part
We won the State Championship in 1962 - we beat Graham the first game of the season and their only other loss was to Andrew Lewis - I also went to that game. Then at the end of the season Andrew Lewis was ruled ineligible and Graham was awarded the State Championship. We at Bluefield then called ourselves as the State Champions of both Virginias.

Their QB has entered the portal and their highest ranking recruit has uncommitted and reopened recruiting. JMU better have a plan or they will be best record to worst in one year.
He's done a great job for the Dukes, but there are a LOT of quality QB's in the Portal right now.

Yes, post new HC I could see him coming back.
Allegedly Cignetti is recruiting guys still on the roster to Indiana. Allegedly. I'm not sure how he's going to beat Michigan, Ohio State, or Washington with JMU's players but, maybe he can?

I mean Prime thought he could just bring in his greatly underrated HBCU guys and dominate. Maybe not.

I dislike JMU and their overzealous fan base as much as everyone else, but we need them to be strong. Or maybe not. If App can get through Clemson, the East can be as weak as it wants to be next year, if you believe the committee believes in "just winning".

Well according the the CFP the ACC is another G5 conference ... Clemson may not be much of a win.

There will in essence be two potential CUSA type conferences next year- the actual one and the one minus SMU. The Mountain West will beat up on each other. The MAC possibly the same but who knows what the transfer portal will bring there. Our schedule will be very interesting in that we could face a 2023 unbeaten Liberty squad or one coming off of a humbling bowl ass kicking. I'd expect Clemson to at least bounce back to a 9 win squad. Start the count down!

We want the SBC East to be strong, we don't need THEM to be strong. I'd be perfectly fine with everyone else being good and JMU and GA Southern sucking eggs for the rest of eternity.

Yes, the precedent has been set with the G5, win and you’re in. Liberty had the worst SOS in all of football, but got in due to not losing, which is interesting considering what happened to FSU. That schedule was really bad, but apparently that doesn’t matter for the spot. So I really don’t care if we play P5s anymore, just win, plus our conf is so much better. What the sunbelt needs to really take a step forward nationally is a few playoff appearances, why not us . . .

You don’t need any kind of SOS to make the NY6, you just need to be undefeated. Liberty proved that this year.
Obviously that’s not going to be the case every season, but they’ve shown time and again that SOS means little to nothing.
Give 'em hell!

Very interesting take on scheduling. We used to play the P5's for the check. I've asked before but on average if we fly out and play a Texas A&M or some other P5 which requires flight, maybe a hotel stay and other travel expenses how much do we typically net? These games are scheduled way in advance and you don't know 5 years or more out how good or bad one of these big boys will be. Will it really matter if we beat any P5 team if ultimately we lose a conference game?
Does the committee put that much thought process into selecting the coveted G5 spot? If the highest rated G5 winner gets the playoff spot would it matter if they played these games?

Everyone always overreacts based on who got the ny6 bowl that year. Some years, a 2 loss team gets in over a 1 loss team and everyone says "we need a stronger conference". Then Liberty gets in and everyone says "we need a weak schedule and go undefeated ". This year was a combination of Liberty going undefeated and none of the other conference champs having a solid resume. They all had at least 2 losses and none of them had impressive wins. In most other years, Liberty wouldn't have gotten in.

Liberty's toughest game next year is App State. They are likely to go 12-1 next year and will be the front runners in an ass conference playing the likes of Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston State, Kennesaw State, etc.

This is where Gill needs to step up. I know he is quiet, but this is a softball to go put and taught your conference. There are 8 other G5 teams out there with a better case for the Fiesta, this makes me sick. Talk about the luckiest SOB's of all time.

I hate JMU and Cignetti, but I don’t see him leaving this season. Especially if they are denied in the courts for eligibility. Based on what I heard from him at gameday, he is from that area and valued the job
This take explains a lot.
Excuse me?
