I agree with several posters. I had no problem with it. It was our job to stop them. The classless thing to do would have been to kick a FG. That's more automatic than a run up the gut. I've never bought into the notion that an offense should play defense against itself.

I agree. I didn't really see it as classless, although I hope that we would kneel down in the same situation. It did start to feel like an intentional shot at us when accompanied by their fan's SoCon chant in apparent mocking of our departure.
If they had taken a knee I would have considered that an insult. You play the game till the clock runs out

Who are we to criticize as we hung 80 on Wofford a few years ago.

I have zero problem with it. They ran straight up the gut and nobody stopped them.

App put 79 on a 1-win Western team in 2007, then put 70 on Wofford in 2008 and were still throwing downfield in the 4th quarter up 49-24.

These team's don't care how bad of a year ASU is having, nor should they. Beating App is beating App, especially for Samford who had beaten every team in the SoCon except App since they joined.

They could have taken a knee like Montana did but Samford isn't Montana. The Griz didn't have anything to prove, they're trying to build a program over in Birmingham. It's not Pop Warner, this is Division I football and these kids are on scholarship.

Plus, the kid who ran it in is a back-up who has 71 yards on the season. Those guys work just as hard in practice as the starters do. Why would the coach not let him get in the end zone just to spare App's feelings?

How are we on the second page of this thread and nobody has mentioned Armanti's bomb to Brian Quick in 2008 at the end of the 2008 SCSU game?

That happened because their coach called late timeouts, but it's way more of a "run it up"/"rub their face in it" situation than breaking a running play for a touchdown.

It wasn't classless. It was a play that we didn't stop.

In 3 years no one will even remember who Samford is, let alone that they beat us once out of 7 games while we were in the same conference.
I know I will. I hate losing the last game like this to all of these teams. Samford is 1-0 against Satterfield and beat us the last time on our own field. I have said before that Scott was in over his head and I didn't think he should have gotten the job but I never wanted this to happen. This is going to sting me and I am actually afraid of losing to WCU this year, something I have never said before. I never said that even when they beat us a decade ago or so. I really hope our coaches and players look at themselves in the mirror this off-season and we see improvement. I am hoping to see us catch a spark late in the year but that is solely up to coaching. We will find out how good our coaching is if this team does see a spark or not over the next few weeks.

This is the kind of thing 1-5 teams complain about.

I miss the days of other teams complaining about US running the score up. :(
