The ones who couldn’t find Chapel Hill on a map wear jorts. The other ones are the worst, but in khakis.

Re: College Football
I lived in Florida for 25 years. I was literally in a Wal-Mart one day wearing a Carolina Football t-shirt. (Don’t want to hear it). Dude turns to me in the checkout line and made some smart ass comment about he didn’t realize they played football in NC. I looked at him and said, “let me guess, you are a Gator fan.” I got the Damn Right, Spurrier is God speech.

Re: College Football
I don’t have a problem admitting that I have a rooting interest with Carolina. I grew up a Carolina fan long before I knew what App was. I root for several teams. I have two Carolina alumni that sit around me at App games and they root for App. One of our Hall of Fame football players has season tickets to both App and Carolina. I find that those that want to shame others for how they feel are the same ones that would get pi$$ed if they were told how to feel.

Couldn't agree more, this is my least favorite argument on this board. You can't erase decades of rooting interest for your hometown, 100's of family memories traveling to games/TV watching, etc. just because you enroll somewhere else. App is where my money, time, passion, even my child now go, but I can have other rooting interests. App above all else, but I still care about the original.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:49 amI don’t have a problem admitting that I have a rooting interest with Carolina. I'd like to see Kentucky kinda shock the world. Their only appearance in Omaha. Colder weather school. Baseball is third tier there. (Sound familiar?)BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 12:45 pmWill be pulling for some P5's in Omaha. While they aren't a G5 or mid major, they sure aren't the usual P5 suspect in baseball.
It's very impressive what they have done.

I hate the Tar Heels with all of my being, but I too agree. While I like to mock an App grad buddy of mine for also rooting for the Holes, he knows its just pi$$ taking.AppOrange wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 12:39 pmCouldn't agree more, this is my least favorite argument on this board. I have no problem with people having rooting interest in multiple schools. I also cheer for my dad's alma mater (Xavier) and my wife's (VCU) - though neither play football so its easier - and when my girls go college, I will probably root for those schools too. (My youngest wants to go to Chapel Hill though so not them. But she is only 12 and can change her mind, while App is one of my 16 year old's top 2 so that is good).
But it will always App first as it should be.
What I don't really get (and didn't even get when I was kid) are people adopting a college team they have no connection to and supporting them so passionately. Its like "why do you care so much about some random minor league football team?" To each their own I guess.

Re: College Football
I'd like to see UVA and NCST in the finals - two of the finest men and top coaches in the game -
I'm not sure how many of you remember Mike Roberts at UNC - his general approach was that NC high school guys weren't good enough for him - however they would go to ECU or UNCW, etc., and would come into Chapel Hill and kick his ass - this is a true story told to me by an ACC coach who was in the room - The baseball coaches were having a meeting and there were some heated arguments going on (as to what I don't remember) and Roberts got up and left the room and the Clemson coach (Wilhelm I believe) said - HEY GUYS WE BETTER LAY OFF MIKE, IF HE LEAVES CAROLINA THEY WILL GET A REAL COACH AND WE'D ALL BE UP SHITCREEK
When Mike Fox took over he got the best in-state players along with other good recruits and really turned that program around - Great coach

Re: College Football
It is interesting that folks seem to have little to no issues with folks being Wolfpack fans like they do about those who are Carolina fans.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 2:02 pmWhen my daughter attended NC State...I told her I separate academics from athletics..AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 1:35 pmI hate the Tar Heels with all of my being, but I too agree. Re: College Football
State fans have their own unique misery, they just do not win enough to be annoying. They almost win a lot only to have their hopes dashed. Being a state fan is its own kind of punishment. You cannot rub it in someone else's face when you come up short time after time.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 2:10 pmIt is interesting that folks seem to have little to no issues with folks being Wolfpack fans like they do about those who are Carolina fans.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 2:02 pmWhen my daughter attended NC State...I told her I separate academics from athletics..AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 1:35 pmI hate the Tar Heels with all of my being, but I too agree.
