I can accept losing...

Unread post by ebapps1 » Sat Oct 19, 2013 3:01 pm

BUT, we're not just losing, we're getting blown out by teams that we should be dominating!!! It has to assumed at this point that there is something going on internally with the team, they are showing no heart, no drive-nothing. It was like after the pick 6 they just gave up. As Axl Rose said "Where do we go now?"

I'm not sure I agree that we should be dominating anybody. Sure, we've come to believe that we get far superior talent than the teams we play. I'm not convinced that's the case as much anymore. We don't appear to be near as fast as we have been. It could be that other teams have become faster. We do not a quality QB right now. And our Oline is suffering. I'm not sure what the deal is there because it's not really size that's the problem. I really think we have some attitude problems on this team that coaching will not correct over night. Don't be surprised if we lose some players between now and next season whether it's their choice or that of the coaching staff.

well, I think we are to the point where wins and losses aren't important, after this game, that ship has sailed, but its now open auditions for playing time next year, the first thing they should look at is attitude, who wants to be here, who wants to be coached. If you want to sulk, if you don't want to listen to the coaches, if your only going to give a "half ass effort" then put them on the bench. Lets start finding out who wants to be here, and who has "checked out".

Well we throw the ball down the field for a change and we score. Does someone still want to say we have a personnel problem and not a coaching problem?

Well, I really think it's more that we're just not that good. And that goes for basketball and football. Coaches can only do so much.

Let's also look at the coaches who are giving a "half ass effort".

bcoach, I'll still say it. You know it's not that simple at this point in a blow out game. Do you think Furman might have let up a little bit, especially since things had been getting testy? There are issues with coaching and personnel.

How many times did you even see them try it before that? I can accept losing if we are trying. I don't see the trying.

Satterfield was shaken and rattled in the post-game with Randy Jackson.

I can accept coming up short, when players and coaches have given 100% in the game and the week's preparation. This is clearly not the case here. I'm afraid Coach has lost the team, and that's a horrific thing with the hardest part of the schedule upon us. I never thought I'd see us play such uninspired football against a rival like Furman.
The remainder of he season will reveal the character (or lack of) of every player and coach on the team. It is time for leaders to emerge, whether they are seniors, freshmen, or position coaches.

As it stands now, as Bill Parcells once said, "You are what your record says your are".

Does that apply to JM's two decades at App?

Yes, Jerry had some excellent years. However, near the end it was obvious his teams were in a steady de-cline.

...if they're only going to give a "half ass effort" then put them on the "non-renewed" scholarship list at the end of the spring semester and offer whatever help we can to find them another place to play.

At the same time, I think Scott has to take a hard look at his staff before he renews any contracts for 2014. I think he needs to bring in someone as associate head coach who has some experience as a head coach at least at the FBS level. He needs some experienced help that he can trust. I'm also of the opinion that we're not getting the best mileage and coaching out of several positions on staff that we should be getting.

If the coaching staff would start playing nonstarters I think they would be surprised in who stands out

You are correct our players aren’t our only problem. I find it hard to believe we have so many kids that are uncoachable but that seem to be where the blame is placed most of the time.
