Re: NC State scared
The last thing any P4 wants is to be the first. It is like with Michigan and how their loss was the first of its kind and the fact that forever there is a rule in the AP Top 25 known as the App State rule because of that game. You can't blame them for not wanting that smoke. I just think it would be a lot more admirable and I would respect them if they admit it and would be willing to play us in BOA or some other neutral site once at least.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 11:56 pmWe don't have a P4 win in Boone YETAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 8:49 pm100%. No other school would suffer more both on and off the field than NCSU if they lost to us...They know this and that's why the cancelled our game under the guise of helping the ACC.
NCSU knows they don't want that KBS smoke

First to lose in Boone? Look I love APP football but let's get real. State losing in Boone would be news for about 24 hrs. Ask 1000 ACC fans how many times ACC teams have won in Boone and 999 wil have no idea and 999 will not care.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 12:32 pmThe last thing any P4 wants is to be the first. Re: NC State scared
That would be 100% true. I first met Clayton Grissom aka Clay Aiken in 1991 when he was in Show Choir with my daughter at Leesville Middle School. I put up with him (oops sorry) I listened to him for the next 6 years. I would much rather spend time with Luke and I'll just leave it at that.

Just like if we were to randomly cancel our series with UNCC if they magically become good real quick -- I'd call us out for being scared too.
There really is no other explanation though. I can see the argument if the contract was old, but it's not. It was signed in the CFP era with the same stipulations that are currently in place.
A loss to an in state G5 program is worse than a loss to a conference foe. How do you eliminate that option? By wasting money and signing a contract just to get out of it by paying a large buyout before the ink dries..
It's either they are afraid of playing us or their AD is egregiously flippant with their budget. Those are the only two options at this point.
I hope for the sake of NC State athletic department it's they are scared.
I'm not quite sure why you're so aggressive over a simple conversation and a genuine question, but I hope your panties get out of their wad soon and you can enjoy your day!

Again. Believe what you want to believe. If you feel the need to call me aggressive because I am challenging your assumptions, not fact, but assumptions then so be it. I don’t care. I will as you say, call a spade a spade. I will call you out if you treat opinion as fact as you have put no genuine thought or effort to know the truth. Your genuine question was answered. You just want to feel validated in your conjecture. Just move along.704App wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 1:38 pmIf common sense is conjecture, cool.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 12:00 pmYour entire argument is conjecture and based on what you want to believe. But, then when the common sense came in to play and I asked "then why sign to begin with?"
In which you came back as "nope, you're wrong. Stop dwelling on it."
You're the only one getting aggressive for a difference of an opinion. I asked another question and you for some reason got super defensive.
It is 100% fact losing to App is more harmful to State than losing to UVA in the eyes of State fans. It is also 100% fact App has consistently ranked higher than UVA every year we've been FBS except 2018.
The only fact you've provided is the CFP ranking calculations -- which were in existence when the contract was signed (also fact).
The only conjecture I've said is they are afraid to play us in Boone. But, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck..
Can you provide anything else other than "nope, you're wrong?"
Again, if the concern is ranking higher in CFP, why schedule it to begin with when those ranking calculations were already in place when the contract was signed? Or are you suggesting the AD is egregiously flippant with the budget and State fans should be concerned?

No one is scared of us. Get over yourselves. Stop with the little man syndrome. Stop letting them live rent-free in your insecure minds.
Win the conference.
These are the only games that matter.

It does not have to be years long like Michigan to be something they want to avoid. It would be news for more than 24 hours though because they would suffer at work that week and they don't want that embarrassment. One thing it does is that it hurts recruiting a little bit. If App is a playoff team and beat NC State it really props App up more. They want to keep App in their rear view mirror as much as they can.bcoach wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 1:03 pmFirst to lose in Boone? Look I love APP football but let's get real. I don’t have to say anything else because Doreen said it for me. The league told them that they didn’t want them traveling to a G5. Period. End of discussion. They replaced the opening with Virginia. They didn’t replace App with Virginia. If you choose to not believe him that’s fine. My position is based on what was heard, not what you concocted. The State fans I know aren't very happy with the change. They think scheduling UVA as a non-conference game is just dumb.

Movesbthe needle little to none. I would hope State is not making game opponent decisions based upon how their fans feel when they go to work. Otherwise, all four non-conferemce games would always be Campbell, West Carolina, Gardner Webb and South Carolina State...that has not been the case.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 2:50 pmIt does not have to be years long like Michigan to be something they want to avoid. But that's the thing -- Doeren is lying or Wake lied. Wake used the same "excuse" but then State still signed the contract and will have to pay a lot of money to get out of it.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 2:59 pmI don’t have to say anything else because Doreen said it for me. Again, this isn't a sudden "oh crap, we can't do that!" thing. This is a "hell yeah, great idea!" turned in to "oh, uh, ACC has been saying since 2020 we can't do what we did in 2022 so we have to back out in 2024" thing.
How does that make remotely any sense? If you want to believe the lip service a coach provides as 100% fact, that is fine. But, if that's the case, you have to take the "fact" that this was in place in 2020 as well -- yet, State signed the contract in 2022.

I get what you are saying and I am not saying we will beat them out most of the time just due to a win. It could sway a kid who gets an offer late from them to stay with us and would help get buzz in the state that would equate to interest from more players.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:04 pmMovesbthe needle little to none. I also don't think they are making them based solely on fan decisions but their alumni are happy to not play us because they know we can beat them. I have no doubt that once word got out they agreed to play App that many boosters reached out to complain and demand they not come to Boone. They are afraid to lose a game that a loss hurts them way more than a win would help them. They have the same fears that Mack Brown expressed after our last game.
Money drives all decisions usually but this is one of the rare times that fear is driving a decision more.
