Poor guy. Collins is 15 yards from the incident chasing the ball. Clark lit into the culprit immediately after. At the last second of the video you can see Clark run on camera.

A statement can be short and acknowledge the obvious while offering an answer to a question many people will have. Here's one I wrote off the top of my head.

"We are aware of a video showing an incident between two players at a recent practice. Appalachian State University, the football program and I as head coach in no way condone what's going on. We are instituting disciplinary actions against one of the players involved, consistent with the established rules and values we have in our program."

I think it’s easy to have that mindset from the outside. Throwing a kid to the curb isn’t the answer. Now is the time when the program and university needs to step up and support him. Have an indefinite suspension from athletic and academic activities but don’t just disregard him.

The offensive lineman knocked off the defensive lineman's helmet first, before the defensive lineman took a swing at him. If you watch the clip closely, you can see that the defensive lineman does not have a helmet on when he takes the swing. You can see the defensive lineman's helmet rolling across the field.

This is a crazy statement - internal punishment will suffice - you are going to kick a kid off the team for a really stupid 5 seconds of his life on the football field? As a former coach I have seen worse and No, I kicked no one off the team

Would he have been suspended if the video never leaked? Fights happen all the time in camp/practice (although this is a bit more, swinging helmets on a defenseless guy without a helmet).

Also, surprised that a lot of fans don’t know who our players are without their helmets on.

Thinking most know who it is, just don't want it to be real due to expected productivity from the player. Then there are a few who are clueless. Disappointing all around.
