Game 1 menu
I want to talk about one of the most positive things on this earth: tailgate food.
Let's get this preseason going.
Number 1: What is on your game one menu?
Number 2: If you have any recipes worthy of sharing and are willing to share, it's ok; you don't have to share grandma's secret beer batter.
Bacon wrapped pepper jack cheese burgers
waffle fries
cheddar brats
baked beans
corn on the cob

I can’t top that menu. But lemme know where you’re tailgating…me and some desperadoes will swing by pre-game to provide objective feedback on the cuisine.appdaze wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 11:34 amI want to talk about one of the most positive things on this earth: tailgate food.

You've got the Buccaneer coming to town with his little bird, Peede the Parrott. I'm thinking stuff a half-drunk beer up a Cornish hen's a$$, season and slow cook for about 3 hours.
Beer Can Chicken. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

We always do pulled pork nachos at least once a year and they are always a big hit.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 5:22 pmBoston butt. Get it on smoker Friday night to pull it before the game.

Re: Game 1 menu
When I’m not crashing a friend’s tailgate, I like to beer boil some brats at home the day before. I’ll bring the Smokey Joe up with hardwood charcoal and grill that while sautéing peppers and onions on the portable stove. Get some high end hoagies and some brat mustard and I’m in heaven. Sometimes I’ll get spicy polish sausage from Wisconsin instead of brats.

With kids soccer in the mornings on Saturdays and I usually do most of my schoolwork on the weekends, there isn’t much time these days.

I totally understand. Our youngest is 24, so I am done with all that for a while.biggie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 8:36 pmWith kids soccer in the mornings on Saturdays and I usually do most of my schoolwork on the weekends, there isn’t much time these days.
You are always welcome. Let me know if you can get away for a game. I always have extra tickets

Re: Game 1 menu
In the past I did some crazy tailgate cooking. But over the last few years our group has really simplified things. I’ll bring a good salad and take a short walk over to Mellow Mushroom for pizza. I’ll bring my portable black stone to heat it up on site.

Re: Game 1 menu
Thanks. I’ve decided to spread them out with oldest turning 18 and youngest turning 9 both next month. One of these days I’ll have free time. I should finish my masters in a couple years as well hopefully.ASUGrad2014 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:15 pmI totally understand. Yep, I thought the same thing when my youngest was 21. When permanent birth control failed on two people.ASUGrad2014 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:15 pmI totally understand. Seeing Bacon wrapped Onion Rings makes me have to ask about the Hog Nuts and Crack Burgers. You obviously have taste, recipe?BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:34 amSmoked Hog Nutsappdaze wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 11:34 amI want to talk about one of the most positive things on this earth: tailgate food.

Re: Game 1 menu
Hog's Nuts are basically water chestnuts wrapped in bacon with a bbq rub and optional on the BBQ sauce, good appetizer to have laying around. Crack Burgers - you mix 1 lb burger with 3 tblspns sour cream, 2 tblspns ranch dressing mix, bacon pieces, 1 cup shredded cheese and some form of rub that has salt/pepper/onion/garlic. I like to use pepper jack to spice it up some and I think more ranch mix, more better.mike87 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 12:16 pmSeeing Bacon wrapped Onion Rings makes me have to ask about the Hog Nuts and Crack Burgers. Re: Game 1 menu
These are all making me so hungry. I wish I had enough time to tailgate on gamedays, but the band calls. Any recommendations for when I do eventually have time?
