Okay gentlemen, I had an idea running around in my tiny old brain. I know from previous comments that I have made, you are thinking what is this dummy thinking now. Just please consider this about our beloved old mountain jug.
This contest has been going on for the past 42 years.
Appalachian State was won 31 contest to Westerns 11, that is a approximately 73.81%. We find a jug about a quarter size pf the jug and paint to match the original one. We place it in a box and place the original on top on our sidelines. If the whee should win (God forbid) we pull the one out of the box and present it to them on the basis that is the percentage of the games they have won in the series. and mainly just to piss them off. What do you think?

If I was Scott Satterfield, Mark Speir would have to fight me for the jug. No way in hell we let them hoist the jug on our field.

I will elbow drop the Jug to pieces ala Dusty Rhodes before Western gets the jug.

We need to assemble a "Jug smashing team". If Western wins, all members of the smashing team charge the field from our respective seats in order to destroy the jug before it is transferred. Security won't be able to stop all of us, hence the need for the team effort.

I amuse myself sometimes.

All one has to do is go back and look at how many of our fans lorded over the smaller schools that comprise the SoCon and the FCS. No doubt many fans of FCS schools (and some of our own) are relishing the difficulties we face this year because of our perceived, and is some cases earned, sense of arrogance for the past 8 or so years. A motivation for staying at the FCS level would be for continued success over schools with a fraction of the enrollment with that of App State. Thus, allowing our fans to feel superior. I realize for some, their self-identity is tied to our success on the gridiron. I'm disappointed when we lose and not satisfied with where we are at the moment, but my life goes on.

I look forward to the challenge that the Sun Belt brings. Perhaps, we will struggle in our first years there but I like the fact that it will require of us more than we have needed against our FCS foes. Regardless of where one was on the move, it has been made. We can only move forward. I don't get standing on the sidelines and bemoaning that fact.
There you go again being objective, realistic and pertinent. :D

The most level headed poster on this board since I've been reading it (circa 2000) yet again summarizes reality.

One-win record included, feeling that Western could be even remotely competitive with us this year is the most depressing thing about the season IMO.

I can't believe that there is the possibility that App could actually lose on it's home field to those purple clad Kats.

But I'm somewhat comforted by the fact that we did beat the Elonker Feenicks.
