I think Woody is about one season's experience (for the players) and a big Nose Tackle away from a very solid defense. That year's experience is 2/3 finished now.

I think Jones has been a solid contributor to the App program, but I don't think he had what it takes to be a DC. That's just the opinion of a fan with no actual experience actually coaching football. My only basis for saying that is that he seemed to get out-schemed on a fairly regular basis, and he rarely seemed to make effective game day adjustments when that happened. I have no trouble believing that he has strengths in the area of player development or position coaching. I have no reason to WANT Jones gone. My question is whether he might be looking for his own reasons. He has shown a ton of character in handling his demotion with class. What he has done is NOT an easy thing! I have seen numerous posts praising players like Cadet & Pressley for taking the step down from QB and contributing elsewhere. I think Jones deserves that same kind of respect.

GO APPS!

I agree. He is a plus for our program, imo. APP can't bring a coach in with his experience and pay him what it would take to do so. At this point he is invaluable with all the things he brings to the table. I'd like to see him coaching. He's been at the top as a player and as a coach for APP. SS would be wise to keep a position for him.
