Re: UGA Tailgating
We always find that the best thing to do is find a lot near the buses and ride the transit. I think we parked near the intramural fields for 2012 and it was an easy stop to get on the bus and ride back. Make sure you don't get on the wrong bus coming back though. Also be aware that the stops coming back aren't the exact spot and for us was across the street from the intramural fields so be aware of your surroundings to make sure you get off at the right stop!

My suggestion would be parking in the East Campus Deck (EO4 on the link). $20 a car (last year, at least), and there are a lot of grassy areas outside the deck where you can set your tailgate up. While there will still be a lot of UGA fans in that vicinity, it is an easy place to get in and out from and is far enough from the stadium that you will not be hunting a place to setup. If you get there early enough there will be surface area parking available right near the deck that is even better for tailgating. The shuttle buses pickup right on the southeast corner of the deck.
After the game, walk back (90%) downhill ... a pretty good walk (about like walking from KBS to Sagebrush) or you can wait on the shuttles.
We've set up our tailgate there every year we've played UGA, and had a good time there. After the game, they have the traffic routing directly out of the deck onto the perimeter (Loop 10), so if you're trying to get out of Athens on the East side it is very convenient. Only drawback is they'll have you heading south, so if you are heading back north you'll have to go down a stop to turn it around.
They have a little access road that they route you through from the East Deck that is only open on game day. They won't push you out on the main road (at the lights) unless you are parked in the intramural area.

Re: UGA Tailgating
Best place to tailgate for the game this weekend is on the App fan bus originating in Charlotte, making a stop in Greenville and arriving in Athens in time to continue tailgating at the location of your choice. Please let me know if you or anyone your know is interested. These buses are always a great time! They're affordable ($35/head) and no stress (I-85 sucks). Details:
6:00am: Depart Park Rd. Shopping Center (4201 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209). We’ll meet in the area between Great Outdoor Provisions and Michael’s.
~7am: Arrive at Pelham Rd. exit in Greenville, SC. We’re picking up a few riders here. Meeting spot is TBD, Greenville folks or those familiar with that exit, I’m open to suggestions. I think the Courtyard Marriott or the Wal-Mart parking lot will be good spots to touch and go (we plan to open the doors, load up, and keep moving).
~10am: Arrive in Athens, GA. By the time we park, unload, and you walk to your respective tailgate activities it will likely be 10:30. I’m open to a 6am departure if a majority of riders would like to do that, so that we have more time on campus before the game. Let me know if you have an opinion one way or the other.
12:30pm: Kickoff
Departure: Whenever the final whistle blows please head directly back to the bus. We’ll load up and be back on our way. That will probably put us back in Charlotte between 8-9pm.
GO APPS!
