Agree. I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. San Antonio is a great place to visit.

I've heard that before, but I prefer Austin.

You are correct.

I was alluding to being easy travel like other fans had mentioned. Maybe I should have hoped for a scheduling South Carolina, UNC. or NC State, just as easy for me.

However three years ago our APP egos were so big that we couldn't stoop low enough to go to Coastal. Looks like they'd kick our butts this year? Big thread on why we just couldn't go to that lowly program.

Glad our egos saved an embarrasing moment if they camr to The Rock this year?

I probably need to learn to think bigger.

I did my AIT at Fort Sam and was able to get out every so often to visit San Antonio. We spent most of our time on the River Walk drinking sangria. My wife talked me into a Texas visit over Christmas and I talked her into staying in San Antonio to revisit.

There's nothing compelling about UNCC as far as their "name" goes. Geography and QC exposure are the selling points when it comes to incentives to play them.

Right, didn't mean to imply that they are a name program. Just that there are reasons why a series with them would be advantageous for App and appealing to many App fans.
There is only one reason that a series with uncc is advantageous to ASU and that would be the cost benefit of such a close game. Relatively speaking, we would have nothing to gain and everything to lose in a series with uncc. As I've mentioned before, surely we didn't wait all this time for FBS only to schedule uncc (at least I know I didn't), especially when there are so many other attractive teams that we should be trying to work with. It would be like taking one step forward and two steps back.

There have been several things that have occurred over the last few years that have caused me not to live up to my screen name. However, if uncc is on our schedule within in the next 10 years, that will do more damage to my enthusiasm than anything I can think of.

Also, re: the ECU speculation: When I said my top two opponents would be Marshall and UNCC, I assume it goes without saying that all of the other in-state FBS schools would be in that mix as well. I assume UNC, State and Duke would likely be occasional opponents at best. But regular or semi-regular games vs. ECU or Wake would obviously be great.

And please call them their proper name: UNCC. The last thing we need are our own fans validating their little-man rebranding efforts. It's like calling ULL, "Louisiana."
Only if people referred to UNCC as "Carolina". Actually, it would be like calling ULL simply "Lafayette"....& HST is still overrated...

How does playing Campbell grab you? As far as I'm concerned, I don't think much about future scheduling at this point in time, rather I just want to start winning again.

When FBS schools in the Sun Belt, MAC, and C-USA play a FCS school it usually is not someone who they could possibly lose to. They usually play borderline D-2/lower-tier FCS teams that they will for sure beat and get them closer to bowl eligibility.

They need those wins over FCS schools to get them to bowl games and to just have another home game. It sure as heck beats playing 4 at home and 8 games on the road. We have to do what we have to do to get 5-6 home games a year.

Any guess on when this will be announced? Also what are estimates of the first year that we host a team from the likes of the ACC, SEC, Big 10, or Big 12?

Whenever we have seating for circa 45,000.

Doubtful that you'll comprehend, but as an FCS schedule filler, not bad. Definitely much better than uncc as an OOC FBS opponent. Most of us have realized that as an FBS team, we will probably have an FCS team on our schedule most years, like most other FBS teams. For that, Campbell doesn't bother me. On the flip side, using up one of our OOC FBS slots on uncc makes me want to puke.

In the future I bet you we will have better FCS competition than Cambell coming to Boone. Cobb has said he wants to continue to be associated with some of the teams in the SoCon. Cambell 2014 is an anomaly that happened because we cancelled with a top notch FCS program. I doubt anybody is excited about it or thinks it is a good thing just to get a win.

So you don't think there's any potential recruiting benefit to bringing our product into Charlotte-area recruits' backyard? You don't think there's any benefit in terms of media exposure and fan interest in playing a game in North Carolina's largest media market, and the county that is home to more ASU alumni than any other?

I'm new on the board, so forgive me if this is an old debate. But I see that you have been pretty vehement about not wanting to play UNCC. Mind if I ask why? I assume it must go beyond just not wanting to "schedule down."

It does follow the Michigan game so its placement on the schedule is not particularly bad.
