Really, only Abson is not a vital part of his new team.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 10:03 amTruthfully, such a sad part of all this is some of these guys who transfer out are chasing money to go to a worse basketball situation.
Justin Abson should be having another monster year for us instead he's barely getting any playing time and averaging 1.6 points per game. His minutes, FG%, rebounds, blocks, and points are all down at Georgia and...not that this really matters...ESPN.com's player card for him at Georgia doesn't even has his photo attached. Talk about stud to dud.
On the other hand Tre'von Spillers is averaging just under 10 points and 10 rebounds per game at Wake, relatively on par with his numbers in 2023-24 for us.
Abson’s stats aren’t great, but his playing time has gone up almost every game, and to me, the team plays better with him on the floor. Today, Ole Miss was beating UGA by 12. Abson was put in and played about ten minutes. During that time they got within 2. They took Abson out and immediately went back down 9 and lost the game.

Getting paid to sit around and watch basketball games. This is truly an example of show me the money. Wish him the best.

Nah. He was live on SEC network and beat the #6 team, and a true blue blood program to boot, even if he didn't get any minutes. That's an opportunity he never would've had at App. Plus, the guys that played were in a rhythm. You don't mess with what's working, especially when you're on the cusp of what might be a season defining win. Abson's been getting more and more minutes, he'll see his number called plenty.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 9:36 pmWell. He never even took his warmup sweatpants off tonight and they won by 14. Sat for 30 mins. Comes off the bench and they take the lead. He plays great in spurts. He’s been the spark in a few games. Good for him.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 11:52 amNah. Take out the NIL factor and assume Abson stayed at App and also say he was averaging 20 points, 10 boards and 5 blocks right now.
Currently he’s at 1.8/2.6 and .8. Probably getting no run right now for the next level but would those theoretical numbers project differently for a pro look? And the points would probably be closer to 10 in Boone but does sitting the bench at UGA help his cause?

No, he’s not quick enough to play in the league.

Re: Troy vs App, Boone, NC, 6:30 pm EST ESPN+ 29 degrees
He would probably get a little more publicity at App if he was averaging 20/10/5 but the ceiling is probably overseas pro career for a few years. He’s probably getting a little more development at Georgia (even though he’s barely playing) but the practice reps against the lottery pick should be helping him, and whatever talent big man he plays against in the games. Scouts are coming to see Georgia a lot so they may notice Abson as well. It will be interesting to see what he does next year, if he sticks around P5 or if he takes what he’s learned at App and UGA to go back to a mid major and dominate. I suspect he will see more and more minutes here soon based off his recent play. Being in that Georgia circuit might be getting him a ton of contacts as well. That state breeds professional ball players, scouts, coaches, etc.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:19 amTake out the NIL factor and assume Abson stayed at App and also say he was averaging 20 points, 10 boards and 5 blocks right now.

Really wish we didn’t draw UL so early on. That’s looking to be a horrible loss as they’re 5-12. We’re a complete different team 1 month later. Haven’t won a game on the road yet, that will change this week

Unc-a is 10-6.
He is averaging double digits. 47% from the field. 4 assists, almost 4 rebounds. 1.5 steals.
I would say he makes then better.
Sometimes players games do not fit the system.

Re: Troy vs App, Boone, NC, 6:30 pm EST ESPN+ 29 degrees
More Sunbelt games last night. South Alabama starting to pull ahead. They match up with Troy twice in the next three games. That'll go a long way towards determining that first seed. If they sweep Troy they'll be tought to catch up with / especially since App won't face them until tournament time. Right now Kenpom has App/Troy tied in that second spot with Troy getting the tiebreaker so we're probably better off with South Alabama sweeping Troy.
