27 Freshmen

Thanks for the numbers on that. Fairly good balance with classes.

In today’s college football, is there any reason to care about balance among classes?

If the roster was all juniors and seniors, would the turnover numbers in three years be drastically different vs. this balance.

We should probably have looked for some full size 4 wheel drive trucks. I think we got a little too enamored with sports cars.

No, we can’t. But the FBS world has change so much, straight comparisons don’t work any more. No one will ever be handed a Ferrari again. They might get the motor or the tires, but never a complete hotrod. Instead, they’ll be handed some parts and have to add their own to see what they can build.

Those were the most talented teams in our history. Being able to compete with bottom half P5 teams is pretty strong evidence in that regard.

The top 2-3 of the G5 typically was a top 25 team in that era. And both Drink and Clark were handed a top G5 team in terms of talent.

It is interesting how it is now somehow the fanbase’s fault for having expectations the coaches told us to have. “Come here to win championships.” “2024 is the year”.
