People over there looking down their noses at this board is a long-standing and cherished tradition here. I know some of the ones who do it and it isn't surprising at all given my past interactions with them.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 25, 2025 9:03 pmI posted a screenshot just as an example of something not meaning any malice at all but tonight I just read the thread of someone calling me out over there instead of DMing me here like an adult. You should ask some people why they trash talk this board but post on both and why some have made snide remarks that come off as insults on Weston Scambler when we are all Mountaineers and should act like adults.
It says a lot more about them than it does about the folks who post here.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Just seeing the above so I’ll address some of the comments. Posting of content from 24/7 on another site is against the rules. Not AppStateMania’s rule, not 24/7’s rules, but CBS Sport’s rule, as they own the content. Being someone that has written articles for pro football publications you should understand the definition of proprietary ownership rules. No one should have to explain this to an adult. Especially an adult who “works” in the world of journalism.
And the site rules are clearly stated and after numerous people pointed the first screenshot out to the admin, he restated true rules. You did it again so you clearly don’t care to follow the rules like an adult.

Yeah, you may want to dial back the screen shots. Not just because it’s a violation of the 24/7 user agreement, but also because many people here aren’t concerned about what happens over there anyway.

Isn't part of the issue with the below that Mr. Scrambler basically posted the injury about Kanye (after someone else had posted) ..and had basically the same wording and the same picture of Kanye in his post...and did not give credit?. If true... whether intentional or an honest mistake... isn't that frowned upon in the world of journalism?
The world of social media can be harsh as people typing behind a computer screen have cyber courage to say things they would not normally say in person. If someone makes a mistake or inappropriate comments on social media, the social medias wolves will feast. Do I like it, no. ..but any rational adult knows that this goes with the territory on social media.... especially someone holding themselves out as a journalist, blogger, etc.

The funny thing is that I see some emotional meltdowns on both boards. They are both message boards so a lot of same stuff happens. One group is paying for inside info that they don’t get anymore so I’m not sure it makes them any better. When your best argument for paying 100 bucks a year on a board with no premium info is seeing how opposing fans talk about you when you can see it free in other places you lose me.appst89 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 5:40 amPeople over there looking down their noses at this board is a long-standing and cherished tradition here. Exactly, this was the point I was trying to make. For the record, I find the conversation here just as good, if not better, than anything on the 247 site.

It could have been an honest mistake. Was it the exact same wording? Regardless, Weston is a college student and not a pro. He is one of ours and very young so people should reach out to mention things like that to him instead of trash him. I don’t want to run him off. One day he could be on ESPN or somewhere and will remember how his own people treated him. We need to encourage instead of trash him.

“Insider info” thanks for the laugh. When Clark was in charge, there was absolutely no insider info, apart from recruiting. That site was a waste of my money for anything other than recruiting, which I don’t follow closely anyway.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 7:11 amThe funny thing is that I see some emotional meltdowns on both boards. You aren’t wrong but there are some who care for sure. For the record the screenshots were never posts by anyone who runs the website though. I would never do that to someone’s proprietary work.

Has nothing to do with being a pro or a student in this case. If the kid is in college, his generation is savvy enough to know the ethics of social media posting.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 7:25 amIt could have been an honest mistake. Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
You know what I mean haha. They get tidbits from coaches that the school won’t say publicly. We now have a coach who is locking it down and I can’t blame him. Loggains is doing it exactly the way it should be done. Opposing boosters and coaches read 247 ran sites for tidbits and you don’t want them knowing that info. All recruiting websites are a little different from actual reporters because they really need coaches to provide info and approve them posting or else they can have access to practice, interviews with recruits and signings, etc cut off. There is really no benefit to coaches to allow it. It is why just about every time when they do know a back story they have to wait until after signing day because coaches don’t want that info out there. You and I would like to know who all is visiting for a game but many times it is a player committed elsewhere and they don’t want that out there.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 7:27 am“Insider info” thanks for the laugh. I will say that Moose does a fantastic job with filling in player profiles, posting commits, and posting when someone is offered on social media. I hate his health has slowed him down. I am very thankful to him for doing that there and posting commits here so we don’t have to search for it.

I agree with you on social media but just feel like our own people could be nicer. He will face attacks from fans of other schools for sure.
This current college generation doesn’t go by same ethics as media use to. Remember that back in the day you had to have a degree and be hired by someone to publish info. Anyone can make a social media account and post now. There is no degree requirement and many of them have a regular day job and just pose as a media person for fun hoping a serious entity hires them.

I heard him say in one interview he wants to work in the field but didn’t know where, yet. If he copied he made a mistake and hopefully learns from it. It is easy to fix by just mentioning who reported it first.

There is nothing to dislike about Weston. He is well spoken and articulate and has a bright future in the field if he chooses. However, he does play fast and loose with plagiarism in some instances. He’s young and I admire his passion. Just hope he learns from it before it cost him an opportunity.

His generation as a whole does but hope he learns if he is. I never saw the post he supposedly copied. Someone has given him a chance and he is one of ours so I am pulling for him.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 8:17 amThere is nothing to dislike about Weston. I do miss the days when you needed a journalism degree and either experience in the field in college or actually played or worked in the field.
I did just look at X and Scambler did not copy his post but told the same news in general. He used the same photo but there was not credit from the other account to who took the photo. I have seen that photo used in other places so I wonder if it was taken by App Athletics and both should be crediting App with it or whoever took it.

We've spent a lot of time talking about all the unknowns around App, but is Charlotte any good? I literally don't know anything about Charlotte because I don't care about them. Should we win this game no matter what, or could this be one of their few wins against us?

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Just take everything that has been said about App this offseason and apply it to UNCC. New staff, new players, tons of unknowns. It’s a crap shoot at this pointMrCraig wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:46 amWe've spent a lot of time talking about all the unknowns around App, but is Charlotte any good? I literally don't know anything about Charlotte because I don't care about them. Should we win this game no matter what, or could this be one of their few wins against us?
Give 'em hell!

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Fair question and my answer is who knows. They are essentially in the same boat. New staff and new roster. We can beat an inferior team and everyone thinks we are good or we can lose to a superior team and everyone thinks we are bad and can’t improve.MrCraig wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:46 amWe've spent a lot of time talking about all the unknowns around App, but is Charlotte any good?
